TOPIC | Wings of fire or warrior cats?
Both series were my favorites when I was younger. I think in the quality of the writing and plot, Wings of Fire is better, because it is more consistent with itself. That may be partially because the series is written by more than one author, but That one fact does push Wings of Fire ahead. It has amazing characters, a unique world, and keeps getting better and better.

Warriors, I think, has hit its peak, and is starting to plateau. Don't get me wrong, the idea is brilliant, and the series itself had potential, but I feel like there's a lack of planning, and a kind of randomness to the plot. It could be a lot better if the writers took the time to make sure the series is consistent and to take time writing the book instead of rolling out new books really quickly. As we're getting into the seventh (I think) series, it feels like the writers have begun to run out of fresh ideas

This is just my writer's brain being picky (pls don't take this too seriously). The series is targeted for younger readers, so it won't be as complex. Warriors is amazing series for younger kids to read, and I think people should encourage younger people to read it. Wings of Fire, does end up having the upper hand though, when it comes to the quality of the plot and the characters (just my opinion tho)

Didn't mean for this to turn into a semi-rant. Haha, thanks for suffering through it.

Wings of Fire has a decent length, and I don't even know how many Warriors books in total there are. Though, as I said before, I read both but prefer Wings of Fire, in which my username is a WoF joke.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR WOF AND WARRIORS (and Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War spoilers in an example usage)

Wings of Fire has to be the best I've read. Warriors is a collaboration between multiple authors going under the same name, but Wings of Fire has one author. Wings of Fire is by one of the Warriors authors, Tui T. Sutherland, though I honestly have to say that Tui puts more effort into WoF then the authors of Warriors do.

I heard Wings of Fire's mainstream books are planning to end after the fifteenth book in the mainstream series (in the mainstream series there's currently 13 books as I am writing this). But the main reason why it's ending is most likely because Tui is running out of names to use and that she probably can't keep everything that's going on functioning properly.

Why, though? Shipping wars in the fandom. Because in book six, Moon Rising, there was a gay ship (Qibli x Umber), and fans were like "oh okay" but some got a little mad. Then there was more ships, like Turtlejou (Turtle x Kinkajou) and Anemarin (Anemone x Tamarin) that started wars across fandoms.

But the biggest war of all? Moonbli (Moonwatcher/Moon x Qibli) vs Winterwatcher (Moonwatcher/Moon x Winter). Winterwatcher was the main ship before Moonbli, which people were like "oh okay cool" about Winterwatcher. Then Moonbli was introduced, and the fandom was going CRAZY.

Then comes one of the reasons why I don't really like the fandom. They then started to ship Winter with Lynx to create the Lynxter ship. If you haven't read Winter Turning (book 7 of WoF), then allow me to explain a little bit. Lynx first appears near the end in for Winter and Hailstorm's Diamond Trial so Winter could go up in the rankings. Let me explain how this works. The Diamond Trial is a special trial done by IceWings in order to go up in the Circle Rankings, or the feudalism of the IceWings. First Circle is for high-ranking nobles and royalty. Lower Circles aren't really important in the society and in general live as peasants. If IceWings wanted to go up in the rankings, then they would have to do a Diamond Trial.

Diamond Trials aren't easy. Diamond Trials are also called the "Gift of Vengeance", which is exactly what it explains about it. In the Diamond Trial, two IceWings, usually one first-ranking and the other last-ranking in the younger-aged ranks, compete against each other. The two dragons then have to go into The Diamond Caves and fight Foeslayer, an ancient NightWing, to death. She first is seen frozen, then is unfrozen, and once she is defeated she freezes again. The trials were started by ancient IceWing queen Diamond, who hated Foeslayer because her son, Prince Arctic, escaped the IceWing palace to marry her instead of Snowflake, a noble IceWing. Snowflake was chosen by Diamond to marry Arctic because Diamond liked Snowflake's scale colors. Skip to later, Diamond decides to punish Foeslayer because she "stole" Prince Arctic from the Ice Kingdom. Two dragonets (dragonets are dragons who aren't adults yet) fought her as she, herself, kill Foeslayer fourty times. It isn't confirmed yet, but it's probably where Diamond got the idea of during the Diamond Trial, the two dragons have to fight Foeslayer. So then Foeslayer was enchanted to never die and instead freeze and unfreeze during Diamond Trials.

After the two dragons defeat Foeslayer, they then have to fight each other to death, and one emerges victorious and can move up in the rankings.

Lynx was in the First Circle, and when Winter reached the top of the First Circle, she congratulated him. Then Moonbli popped up, so instead the fandom decides to ship Winter with Lynx, an IceWing who pretty much is just a filler character and only appeared for five seconds.

Wings of Fire's mainstream series is pretty much ending due to the chaos about Sundew/Willdew, the ship between Sundew and Willow, and the fact that Sundew is lesbian. Tui keeps getting complaints, which is pretty much a valid reason why it would be happening.

Warriors, no matter how much complains it gets about it being so long, only keeps going. I do agree, as said in an earlier post, that after Firestar died, then the series should have ended. I mean, Firestar was an important character, and was the protagonist for the first arc of the entire series, and overall was an important character. But then again, it's like the authors ran out of ideas, but just wanted money, so they continued anyway and don't really put in effort anymore.

A similar example is in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. So spoilers for the game (as I said earlier), Sigurd dies after being burned alive by Arvis. That's when only half of the game ends, and it's a timeskip to about 15-17 years later. Sigurd was the protagonist of the game, but not the true one, as his son Seliph is actually the game's true protagonist. It was just a single game though, not a book series, but it is pretty similar. Like Leafpool and Squirrelflight, the daughters of Firestar (and Sandstorm), then became pretty important after their father's death, similar to Seliph after Sigurd died.

END OF SPOILERS

So yeah, the fandom is what I don't like about Wings of Fire. But Wings of Fire has easy to count books and actually has effort. The mainstream series might end soon according to rumors, but that doesn't mean that there's no more books. We can get more Legends books. Legends is another Wings of Fire series similar to the Warriors Super Editions that is technically a prequel to the series. Only one Legends book has been released so far, Darkstalker, which is in point of view of the character of the same name, in February, a new Legends book, Dragonslayer, comes out. I'm actually really excited for that one.

In conclusion, Wings of Fire is better (in my opinion) because Tui T. Sutherland isn't continuing the series for money and is actually trying to make the fans happy. Most of the Wings of Fire fandom is LGBT+, so she introduced some lesbian/gay ships to make them feel comfortable about the series, which homophobes then came to the community. The community is full of homophobes and people who want to start ship wars, so the community is really the only thing bad about WoF. The series itself is really good and has lots of time put into it. And it's by one author, which is impressive.

yes, i did take my time to write all of that.

edit: fixed errors i did

Warriors imo.

I understand that both of them are series for kids but WoF's writing style just really bothered me, it was really immature, if that makes much sense. Only read the first series though, I don't know if it gets better as it goes on but oof, that style just became more unbearable to read as it went on.

Wings of Fire does get better after the first series/arc, which then Jade Mountain is introduced and students go there with the Dragonets of Destiny as teachers. Which then the Jade Winglet escapes and all that to stop "thunder and ice" from destroying Jade Mountain.

The third series is about a new continent, Pantala, with three new dragon tribes SilkWings, HiveWings, and LeafWings. Then dragonets get together to stop evil regime and all that.

Spoilers to the third arc, I still can't believe that the antagonist was a PLANT.

A PLANT.

accidentally wrote a whole essay here the first time, so i guess ill simplify my reasons behind my answer:

wings of fire over warriors because 1) its a shorter and more consistent series when you compare the two 2) better lgbt representation 3) its less repetitive than warriors 4) i have a personal bias because im emotionally attached to the characters and also the series has made a large personal impact on my life AND ALSO i just freaking love dragons

both are good but id go with wings of fire because
1) better lgbtq+ representation
2) i like dragons more
3) not repetitive
4) i feel like the characters are more complex
5) darkstalker

what i didnt like was darkstalker's ending.
the second arc was all about not using magic to take away a dragon's free will, and then they just went ahead and turned darkstalker into peacemaker without his consent. darkstalker was a jerk and turning him into peacemaker was the right ending, but i feel like they could've done more to convince him to do it himself. im probably biased, though, he's my favorite character
Can't I love both? WoF's first and second series is amazing. I love Darkstalker and just how hopeless the 2nd series was. Warriors was my childhood. I love The Prophecy Begins and all the secrets of the clans. I still read the books (and have them all) but I noticed a decline in the later books :P
^^^ Personally prefer Wings of Fire since warriors does have some problems with filler and character development but this sums up my thoughts
