THE ILLNESS WILL BRING YOU PEACE.
SERENITY IS BORN FROM CERTAINTY AND YOUR SUFFERING IS CERTAIN.
@Nekron Thanks! This is my first vivarium setup and it's not perfect, I'm actually hoping to upgrade to a 5g tank soon so I can make everything bigger and more secure. I won't derail this thread too hard with viv chat but here's a picture of the whole thing: [s]dont look at my treasure count im poor[/s] Just a large Kritter Keeper with some moss sheets attached to the sides and back, a layer of gravel, a layer of soil (mix of organic coconut coir and some critter substrate from the pet store), a piece of mopani hardwood, some live moss marketed for hermit crabs, leaf litter, and a cool rock I found :u The live plant cuttings growing in the back are pothos- they seem to be doing really well in this container even though they're in pretty shallow dirt, and they love shady indoor conditions. I used this tutorial for a little guidance with the design. If you're looking for inspiration for a roach habitat specifically, I also like this video (contains some discussion/footage of using roaches as feeders for other pets, just in case that bothers you!) Anyway, here's some more on-topic content for the thread, I dug up some photos from a few years ago. I found a big hornworm caterpillar being swatted around by a cat, so I rescued it and let it hang out in a jar of dirt in my kitchen for a few months until it became a moth. Things that happen when I'm not subscibeed to a thread. Apparently everyone posts while I'm not looking. Still not gonna subscribe, surprises like this are part of the fun. @Zoic Ohh, a scorpion. That's so cool. Congrats on finding one. Adn lucky for both of you that you didn't step on it. @Nekron Pretty roaches. If you're still looking for more vivarium setup tips, I have none for you myself. However, I found this fairly active sub https://www.reddit.com/r/Vivarium/ Mostly reptile people in there, but possibly someone might be able to help out. @Cynictis Derailing this thread with conversation is fine in my book, as long as it kinda stays on the topic of inverts. I don't have a vivarium myself, but I still like reading about this. And whoa, that's an impressive caterpillar. Grew up to be quite pretty. Nice. ---- Anyway, moar pics from me. One really blurry pic of... uh... something? It's some kind of diptera. About the same length as a housefly, but a lot skinnier. The closest I've found was window fly, but it didn't look quite like one. Didn't have a long time to look at it before it fluttered away. So this one will likely remain unidentified. Oh look, another blurry pic. This one's a tiny beetle. Here, I'm also not entirely sure what exactly it is, but likely some species of flat bark beetle. Next up, a high quality pic of some moss, as well as a somewhat out-of-focus firebug. What's with my camera's focus? Granted, it's a phone, so I shouldn't expect that much. Still a quality pic. At least compared to the other two. @tomaytotomahto @Pixelspiral @Dragonfruiteen

Another quick post here, because I found a cool website featuring pics of many German insects (and they have a section for arachnids too), which may help be identify what I find around here.

Why this post? Because I'd forget about it otherwise. I know myself.

@xionahri Also, this fly looks kind of similar to one that I found hiding in freshly-brought Christmas tree once. It was triangular and slow-flying, buzzing really loudly too. I'm back with the snail story. I've been away on the north Cornish coast- not that far away from my home, about three hours drive. The first day I went out and happen upon a snail: I waited for about 5 minutes for it to come out. Ma: Come on snail. I need your picture for the thread! Snail: Nope. Too windy. Me: Fine. Be that way. The next day I happen upon something better: baby snails! It was walking in circles on the tip of my finger

@Voronwis

That's so cool. You seem to have made many slimy friends while you were gone. Those are a lot of babies indeed. Looks like the snails seem to be doing well there. Thanks for all those beautiful pictures.

@Pixelspiral

Nice to hear it got out safely. Nice find, too. Those also live where I'm from, but I haven't seen one this year so far. Maybe it's still too cold and windy here.
