As with Tumblr's new policy changes, and their terribad bots, we need to find a new place to go, obviously, as a community, since so many dragon sales posts and dragon art has been marked sensitive BEFORE Tumblr dropped the banhammer on all adult content even.


So, why don't we start brainstorming- we have 2 weeks to find a place to be able to post art, lore, sales, and I know a lot of us aren't willing to crawl back to D/A and Facebook just sounds like a bad idea. I suppose we could start up a mirriad of Discord channels but that might encourage fighting? I dunno.

It seems as though Pillowfort is going to be the best option once they go free- and maybe Toyhouse for OC tracking.

Tbh I think people are just overreacting with this whole thing

If your content is flagged when it shouldn't have been, you can get it appealed and brought back which many people have done already

Unless people are actually posting explicit content on their FR blogs, they are fine

@Dragon Yeah but the bots are terrible at doing their job. And as far as we can tell, there's no human check-system. Again, any remotely flesh-colored dragons have been blocked before- I've gotten marked sensitive because of a pink hatchling on a nest sales post before.

yeah but the appeal system, while annoying, is pretty solid. i think the worry is being blown up. as feed-back goes in the bots will get better and it'll be as if nothing has changed.

it's not for written things, but drawings are included. from that one support post: "photos, videos, GIFs and illustrations" (if we're both talking about the same thing here)

but yeah like @/Dreamslayer said, you can appeal if it wasn't supposed to be flagged. it's just a pain in the butt.

are people really having their (non-explicit) FR posts flagged tho ?? i didn't think that was an issue, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Orange/peach colored dragons have been flagged yeah. But also outside of the fr tag, things that have been flagged: frogs, nintendo memes, a baby covered in peanut butter, the staff's post update.

The bots will hopefully get better. So far someone is testing the bots by posting the same image (baby covered in peanut butter) and when it gets flagged, appealing and then posting the same image. So far, the bots haven't learned lol

I think this entire thing is stupid. Can't tell you how annoyed I am-it's because of tumblr's own stupidity that they got removed from apps due to having actual child porn on there and not doing anything about it. And this? This is their 'solution'. Which is going about as well as you expect.

One word: Pillowfort

It's a new social media/blogging platform that combines the community aspect of LJ and creative aspects of tumblr. Basically if both sites had a love child, this would be it.

*You can control who sees your posts (everyone, followers-only, mutuals-only)

*There are communities dedicated to certain interests and fandoms (art, literature, fanfics, baking, dogs, cats, tv shows, games, etc., etc.) You can make a community too if you've yet to see one you're looking for.

*You can block tags and certain words in the body of a post, so they won't show up on your feed.

*The site is still in beta so it costs 5 dollars to join but the money is well worth it. Especially since the staff really do listen to their user base.

*Unfortunately the site is currently down due to do staff realizing that there was potential for a security breach so they're working really hard to take care of it and have been keeping their users updated daily on tumblr and twitter. Link to their twitter. If you've donated 5 bucks to their paypal they'll send out your beta registration key once this is all handled.

I absolutely love this site and can't wait to see it grow better and better. There are still bugs that need working out but trust me they'll go back to working out the kinks when the current situation is dealt with.

Anyway, with the recent announcement from tumblr, I imagine pillowfort will get a lot more interested users.
