@Inuka You're exactly right, I've seen people saying they look "too human" and I guess its even considered taboo or something to some people to have an ape as a fursona. Not that I mind, of course... I'm gonna do what makes me happy, and other apes get excited to find like minded people, so its worth it even if there aren't many of us. The only real downside is the number of artists who won't draw apes (or primates in general) as commissions, but I guess that's probably a thing with lots of other less common species with anatomy that isn't similar to the more popular kindsof animals.

@feelingchimpy
I admit that they actually look "too human", but that's just for my personal taste and it doesn't mean that there can't be good Art of it. And people shouldn't consider it a taboo just because of that.
And hey, there is a upside to this: less people who draw/have ape/monkey fursonas means less weird fetish art xD

@Inuka Its their similarity to humans that draws me to them. They're our closest living relatives and I think that's super interesting and awesome. There is a lot more behavioral overlap than most people realize, its fascinating imo!
rofl this is true, although I've seen my fair share of fetish art of monkeys and gorillas especially xD Chimpanzees specifically are usually left out of it, for the most part. Monkeys and gorillas are more popular (but I think lemurs are the most popular primate in general)

I'm also furry trash. I have too many furry characters/sonas to count tho, so I'll just show two that I painstakingly made custom textures for on secondlife. Both took uhhh 2-3 days each to get just right, I think? First took longer due to the sheer amount of different pieces I had to use.

I've made other texture stuff there too if anyone wants to see more!

U-uh...hi
I have a lot of trouble calling myself a furry because the people close to me and the people I admire tend to make jokes about the furry community, so I've kind of distanced myself from it. But I have to be honest, I'm a furry. So, um, am I still allowed to join the club?

@blackjashin *furiously waves* I've been a furry for a really long time, but I been to shy to talk to any other furries besides two people I met at school. It's nice seeing a fellow furry! Do you have a fursona?

That's one way to see it. Actually never thought about this before.
I guess there's nothing on the Internet that is save from getting weird fetish art, lol. But you're still lucky. I'm sure you can guess hove much strange art dragons get...especially vore. I can imagine that Lemurs are the most popular primates because they're the ones that look the least human.

@Inuka
Ty!!
I loooove sergals, but imo neither of the full mesh sergals available look that great-- the ONA one has an uncomfortably small waist and the back has too much of a curve, and the VR sergal doesn't have much available in terms of clothes and such (+ the faces on both look very odd from a straight-on perspective)... And since I'm not a fan of the default SL bodies and the classic prim arm/leg look ever since mesh came out, I instead opted to set up a kzk v2 sergal head on a snokra snake body. Added some fluff and the claw attachments, made a custom body texture and tada! Finally a sergal I can enjoy wearing around places. ^^
Just in case anyone else who uses SL was curious what I did/wants to achieve a similar look. c:
