I have a winged humanoid species and they pretty much go shirtless (the females are covered in fur so they don't bother with clothes, but the males wear kilts). When my one character wants to wear a dress he wears a halter top dress : )

I've thought of there being holes in the back, but that doesn't work for large wings. So another theory is clasps, similar to regular dress zippers and snaps, allowing for the bottom part to open and close around the base of the wings.

You like winged things, come hither.

i just have a lot of things to say about fantastical humanoids and their scientific backgrounds ok
That's one of the things you are supposed to leave up to suspension of disbelief when you read a fantasy story. Because no one really wants to spend ten pages reading about how Larry the Bird Man puts on his shirt in the mornings.
I can see a unisex sports bra working because there is enough of a gap in the back to accommodate wings and enough coverage in the front to avoid indecency. Maybe the more sporty birdman types could wear those when doing aerial acrobatic stunts or something.

Hey, friendly reminder to drink water, stretch, and take a short break if you can. Stay healthy! Also, don't forget about any chores or tasks you might be putting off.
Quik Clik clothing Only disadvantage is that they have to either be magnetic, or eat magnets for it to work :P
Kidding (mostly) I think in general a lot of winged species could wear something open backed that slips up over the hips rather than down over the head and shoulders and wings (so it just doesnt touch the wings at all) something kind of like this but with a tie up at the back of the neck instead:
(you have no idea how hard it was to find that quik clik commercial 10 years later lol i remember i hated quik clik because they couldnt raise their arms when wearing it lol)

@souphands
yeah! but they'd probably have to use magic or medical tape to prevent the exposure of sideboob...?
this would probably be worn by those that live in warmer climates
pinging myself to find this again haha @Dovalore

Normal clothes would not work. Forget t-shirts or human jackets, they would need to be made from scratch.
I have thought about this too, so here are my suggestions..
1) Go with something like a Greek tunic. That's a garment that is basically just a single piece of square fabric, that is then wrapped around the body and held in place with a pin. There are no stitches, so they can be formed to fit the body no matter the appendages.
2) Go with tight clothes. Maybe something like leather for the wind resistance. This might seem contradictory to the point above, but seriously, it's windy up there. Loose clothing would hinder flight sort of like a parachute would, or even come off entirely if you're unlucky. Like.. that dress up there... you'd get boobs flashing in five red seconds if you're carrying your body horizontally. It could work, but I would suggest a less.. flimsy.. material. If you're writing high fantasy, look at elven leather armor. Light, form-fitting, easy to move in.
3) Use some fabric overlap to cover the top of the wings. This needs to be done subtly so that the wings aren't restricted, and it depends on the structure of the wings. But if there's just a hole in the back, the wind would catch at the bottom of that hole and travel down the back (which is 1) cold and 2) restricting speed). Something like a mini 'poncho' covering the shoulder and upper back area could work to limit this.
Winged people in my own stories use two parts of upper body clothing. The under layer covers the chest and stomach and the lower back, with enough back space for the wings. The upper layer is sort of like sleeved poncho, covering the shoulders, arms, and overlaps the under layer over the chest and sides. They're connected with zippers, buttons or something along the like.

Wing sleeves? I don't know, but I'd guess they'd wear whatever clothing was appropriate to the setting, but with holes/flaps for wings to be folded through, like sleeves that arms go through?

Whenever I have characters with wings, I usually give them an open back shirt depending on what's going on. I have one character that rarely uses his wings so he usually wears his regular clothes with his wings through slits. He's usually dressed in ceremonial robes so sometimes they're bounded together or just hanging out.

Another thing plagueing me along these lines: pants for people with bushy tails.
And also a warmer winter alternative for the northern winged folk :v

i would imagine the wings are double-jointed to the point where they could just wiggle through. or maybe their shirts are just halter tops that snap shut at the bottom and top.
