I just joined Dragon Cave on a whim and was wondering if anyone else used the site as well? I've snatched up three eggs so far but will probably be adding more to my scroll. So far I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually! So far, I've given all my eggs to my clan's oldest dragon, Thalassian, to hold onto. He seems to like them fine so far.

@ZenithNadir
I use Dragon cave and I love it! The sprites are really cute and you really do nothing but snatch up eggs and put them in a hatchery so they hatch. The one I use is called hatching.club You can also breed the dragons to get more eggs and talk in the fourms ^^

@Rxyn Yeah, that's the impression I got - that it wasn't super high-maintenance and that it was pretty chill overall. How do hatcheries work? Do you have to apply to get in, or do you just post your eggs/click on other people's eggs?

You just post your user name in the box, click the eggs/hatchling you want to put in and click submit. (For hatching.club at least)http://hatching.club

@ZenithNadir My dragon cave is so old, omg. I made it in 2008. xD

I confess, I don't do much with it anymore. After so many years it kinda got boring to me D: But I still hop on for new releases and holiday dragons.

@ZontarZon Yeah, I mostly made mine because I wanted those cute sprites to look at. Some of the dragons are just too precious - I want a black-capped teimarr especially, for some reason I think they're adorable!

In any case, I'm super excited for my first eggs to hatch even though I know I'll have to wait a few days. How many clicks will I need to get before my eggs aren't in danger of dying, or does it vary really widely?

@ZenithNadir Dragon eggs are not capable of hatching until at least two days have passed. During that time you have to monitor your eggs to make sure they're getting sufficient views.

BUT. The speed at which you get views has an impact on gameplay.

Not getting enough views is basically what happens when your egg reaches a point in which it is capable of hatching but hasn't yet (a little more than 4 days left before it will die). If your egg reaches 4 days left and hasn't hatched, it becomes eligible for an emergency room in a click site. It triggers an auto-refresh function that is quicker than the other eggs/hatchlings that don't have emergency status. In short, it speeds up the views your egg gets and makes it hatch before its too late. It's an egg saver. xD I'll post links to click sites for you.

HOWEVER...

The worst case scenario is ironically a situation in which your eggs get clicks/views too quickly. This results in a disease that players have unofficially named Softshell. The game will alert you when one or more of your eggs gets sick, and when they do, you have to act quickly. You have to click on your egg's Actions tab, select Hide, and wait until the disease goes away. When an egg is under the effects of Hide, its sprite turns into a little foggy cloud. This makes it so it wont get any views until the egg is unhidden.

Eggs require a certain views/clicks/time left ratio to hatch, but that ratio seems to be different for every egg. Sometimes eggs wont hatch until they get 5,000 views, 700 unique views, and 10 clicks. Another egg might hatch with only 2,000 views, 300 unique views, and 8 clicks. The system for predicting the views needed has not been discovered, which adds some excitement to the game. :)

My tip to avoid complications: Don't add your eggs to click sites too quickly. The first day you can maybe put your eggs in one click site, then the next day you can add them to another, etc.

There is so much more to say about the game though, because for its simple interface Dragon Cave is actually a very detailed game. It has a LOT of secrets.

@ZenithNadir

I've been playing the site for a long time and have a pretty good feel for the amount of clicks needed for an egg to hatch at a relatively consistent time. And I just wanna say you might want to add your eggs to more websites.

A hundred-ish views late into the second day is plenty salvageable but not ideal, because you're looking at eggs hatching on the third or fourth day at the earliest and the ones you have haven't even started cracking yet. I'd suggest checking out my ratios to see what I feel works best, but honestly it's something that sort of becomes natural when you play long enough and you might not end up using the same method as me.

EDIT: I'd also like to mention that I get a fairly significant boost in views by putting my dragons in my FR signature and on my lair page.

I have a dragon cave, and let me tell you!

That thing has been one of my favorite sites since I joined it years upon years ago (back whn you were considered cool for having a gaia and EVERYONE wanted to know), and actually had to re-create an account due to completely neglecting my first one!

I don't usually use the forums, it's just kind of been one of those "grab and forget" type breeding games that I actually don't mind. I just grab a few eggs, plop 'em in a click site and just kind of let them go. I gave up on putting them in signatures a while ago (back when it was cool to fill your gaia profile with such things), so it's REALLY nice to just kind of click and forget.

The events are really fun too. This past halloween one got me really interested in it and I wanted to make as many potions as possible, but I was busy for most of the event :( but at least I got some of the event dragons!

Usually I just google "dragcave click sites" and there's a wikia article that shows up within the first few results and they have a few sites that I've been using for years ( http://dragcave.wikia.com/wiki/Click_Sites )

I doubt any of the ones listed move fast enough to cause problems. I usually list my eggs in 4 hatcheries, and I've only had Softshell twice. It really depends on the egg on how soon it gets Softshell (or not).
