Ahhhhhhhh I'm so excited and wish it was out already!!! I can't believe how many hours I put into MH4U. You don't want to know.

AHHH MONSTER HUNTER MY FAVE SERIES <3
i've been playing the HECK out of the demo!!! What are your guys favorite hunting styles? For me, i LOVE adept switchaxe. I've always been an evasion styled switchaxe user, focusing on sword mode, so adept mode basically gives me evade +3 which leaves me to having much more varied armor sets IM SO HAPPY!!!
aerial lance looks SUPER interesting, I played with it in the demo but the Great Maccao isn't too good for practice vs the Great Jaggi and Malfestio is a jerk and well, Nargacuga is Nargacuga... I'm mostly sticking with Guild or Striker Lance imo.
Hunting horn changes are suuuper nice! I haven't had too much playing around to decide which style would be best, other than dat adept.
Insect Glaive adept would be perfect except YOU CAN'T RECALL YOUR KINSECT, WHY it doesn't make sense why adept would take it out, striker would make sense, but not adept? idk. aerial IG is super fun though.
I only messed with hammer a little bit. I'm rusty with it, so I can't tell you the best, but i used adept against the Nargacuga and knocked it out twice. All of my hunts were sub 10 minutes which was great!

Monster Hunter looks so awesome! :D I've never played it, but I really want Monster Hunter Generations really bad! The game is also releasing on my birthday (July 15). o.o
Before purchasing the game, is there anything I should know about it? The mechanics, gameplay or anything like that? I've watched some trailers, but I want to be sure before I buy it. :3

@ Blackwingedmedic
GL is way underpowered in MHG anyway :'D
@ SakuraOkami7
MonHun's frequently compared to Dark Souls. You'll have to learn how your weapon works, how the monster attacks, and how to avoid getting hit. MH is not a button-mashing game. There'll be a bit of a learning curve, but don't get discouraged!
But the best way to get a feel for the game is to try it out yourself - the demo will be in the eshop this Thursday :D (30th)

The MH Gen demo has arrived and my MH hiatus is over. I've been playing through all the styles of each weapon in order, for each monster in the demo, so far up to aerial lance against Maccao. My personal stance on the changes to the weapons and styles currently;
Guild style is pretty much the same ol', except with lance, since they've changed it up there. Nothing much to say about it.
Striker generally sucks. It might just be the lack of knowing what kind of armor skills and weapon I'm even packing, but on most of the weapons I've tried, it sucks. Th only exception is lance, where striker is so far the best lance style due to not having that altered 3rd hit that is really shaking up how well I can use it.
Aerial is pretty fun. It's fun to try and chain jumps, ESPECIALLY with the great sword's jumping charge slash. It is tricky to use, though, so definitely worth some practice
Adept... I can't really judge it yet. The Great maccao, and any other small fast monster assumably, is not the monster type to use adept on. Adept hammer is worth mention, though.

That's it. I'm maining Adept HBG come Generations.
Power Reload or go home!

Ahhh, the MHG demo is great. Kind of curious that the item screen seems less... clean? modern? than MH4U, but I'll get over it.
Personally, aerial style will probably be my go to style. Striker does seem rather disappointing. My dodge rolls that are barely misses are always hail Mary's, please let me roll passed this, so adept seems wasted on me.
Archdemon dual blades with aerial style is amazing. Fun fact: fighting the owl, if you are in archdemon, and launch when it's taking off, you get three hits on the way up, and the double hit on the way down. A+
Being a palico is hilarious.
Come on, Canada Post. Hold out on the strike until my MHG comes in.

I just began playing MH in November (Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate), and I definitely recommend it! As a new user, one thing I did not know, until my friends told me, is that paintballs are a thing and are really handy. Try to get the "boss" monsters paintball-ed when you first see them so you can track them later when they switch areas. :P
Playing with others can really help you improve, so the online aspect is great. Try all the weapons at the start, and once you've spent some time playing, try them all again. You might find something more suited to your play style (speaking from experience, dual blades to insect glaive).
I agree with Skua; try out the demo and get a feel for it :)
