Pictures must be online for Flight Rising to display them. To post pictures here, you'll upload them to a dedicated image hosting site first.
I have seen guides on using imgur, and guides on posting images on the forums, but never both in the same post. This thread combines them for easy access.
For explanations on all of FR's forum code, try this guide, Crowe's Comprehensive BBCode Compendium. If you want post pictures of FR items or dragons, guides are there.
(Keywords to help with forum search: Guide on how to post my image or picture, how to upload an image or picture, new or original pictures from computer.)
You need to know where the picture is saved on your device.
If you don't know how to use a file explorer, you'll have to google "how to find a file on Mac/Windows/Android," "where is my file saved on Mac/Windows/Android," or something along those lines.
In Windows programs, whenever you use File > Save As to create an image, the address in the File Explorer window tells you where it will be saved.
If you don't know where you saved it, look somewhere like Pictures or Documents.
I created this folder to save my picture in.
(In Windows, the full address is something like C:\Users\name\\Pictures\Drawing\. You can highlight it to copy and paste it later.)
Type imgur.com into your browser's address bar.
If you are on desktop, you can host images here without creating an account.
To upload on mobile, you must have an account first.
Click the "New Post" button at the top of the page.
If you already found your picture in file explorer, you can drag and drop it into the website.
If not, click "Choose Photo/Video," and navigate to the folder you need. Click on the picture, and then click the Open button.
Your picture is online now:
There are many ways to get the image link from here.
One way is to right click on the image, and click "Copy image link."
A second way is to right click on the image, and click "Open image in new tab." In that new tab, the address bar should end in .png .jpeg or .gif . Copy that entire link.
Above the FR post editor, there is an icon of a tree.
Click the tree, and paste your image link.
The post editor looks like this. See how your image link is in between the two "img" code brackets?
Click the "Preview" button to see if your image is working.
Instead of clicking the tree icon, you can type the img codes yourself using square brackets.
How do I add alt text to an image?
FR now lets you add alt text to your picture. Alt text is displayed when you hover over an image with the cursor, when a website can't finish loading an image, or when a screen reader needs to describe an image. I also like to use it so I know what image I'm looking at in the post editor.
Inside the first "img" brackets, add a space, and alt=""
If you leave out the quotes, the alt text will only be one word long.
The quotes need to be basic, straight quotes to work. (They will always be straight quotes if you're typing them into the post editor on FR. But if you type in Word or another application, it might correct them to fancy open/close quotes. They will still be fancy when you paste them into the FR editor, and won't work.)
Type your image description between the quotes.
You can check if your alt text worked by clicking "Preview" and hovering over (or long-press on mobile) the image.
