Got a project!

How do I find dragons for my project?

First, what is the breed and genes end goal?

Here is a breeding rarity comparison guide, by Myndris
https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/gde/2855846

With these tables in mind, you can start searching for suitable dragons.

Breed

Plentiful

Anything goes!
You can get a breedchange scroll for 50kt in the treasure marketplace (without discount).

Common

Goal breed or higher tier preferred, other breeds of the same tier possible.

Uncommon

End goal breed or higher tier preferred, other breeds of the same tier possible.

Limited

Limited or rare breeds.
For Imperial projects, if you do not find the correct breeds (Imperial/Coatl/Wildclaw/Nocturne), you can use lower-tier breeds and give a Nocturne scroll when you have a close-range Imperial dragon you can pair them with (RNG is fickle and loves to give you Nocturnes when you need Imperials).

Rare

Only rare breeds.

Keep in mind that the higher the tier, the longer the cooldown.

Ancient
You can get modern breed dragons/other ancient breed dragons if the gene requirements allow it, since changing a dragon into an ancient breed or a different ancient breed will revert all their genes to basic.

Genes

Rarity at Uncommon and lower

Ideally, at least one dragon with the end goal gene, and dragons with higher-tier genes. Same-tier genes are possible, but more risky.

Limited tier

At least one dragon with the end goal gene (especially in the case of Baldwin genes), and dragons with higher-tier genes (preferred), or same-tier genes.

Note : Smirch is in the limited tier and doesn't cost much, it can be used when you have a goal with a same-tier tertiary gene or lower.

Gem genes

At least one dragon with the end goal gene, and dragons with other gem genes.

Here is a hatchling probability calculator : http://fr-hatchling-probability.appspot.com needs updating

If you cannot find dragons with the desired genes, unless the specialty items are too expensive (gem genes/breeds for example), you can ignore the requirements.

If the player who submitted the wish has specified that they can pay for some specialty items, it makes the search a bit wider as well.

We prefer giving dragons that are as close to the end goal as possible, though, so it's usually an option if there is too few dragons with the right color range/if the existing dragons are not available to breed.

Colors

At most (ideally), you want dragons within a 11-space range (5 colors above, the goal color, 5 colors below).

You can go farther if needed (some wishes started with crazy color ranges), especially if you can get a gem breed/gene by widening the search range.

The color list is a wheel.

Where to look for?

The Auction House is where players put their dragons for sale for others to buy directly, for treasure or gems.

Not all dragons are on the AH though, and the Dragon Search tool is one of your best friends. Remember to Assay bloodlines of the dragons you find before you buy them or send a pm to their owner!

If you sort the results by Highest ID first, you will see hatchlings in the first pages, which are more likely to be fodder (but it's not always the case).

Found suitable dragons!

I found dragons, now what?

Well, are they available for sale?
