I've started keeping track of my battles and counting out how many include mimics in an attempt to work out how often mimics show up.

To start, I have counted how many battles i have to do in order to have ten battles with mimics, and counted how many mimics total show up in those ten battles. This just serves as a neat baseline, but I'm planning to expand out the data as I go.

Woodland Path:
74 battles, of which 10 included mimics. 13% of battles included mimics.
20 mimics across 10 battles, for a 2 mimic average.
This area has approximately a 50% drop chance per mimic.

Scorched Forest:
35 battles, of which 10 included mimics. 28% of battles included mimics.
21 mimics across 10 battles, for a 2.1 mimic average.
This area has approximately a 50% drop chance per mimic.

Waterway:
93 battles, of which 20 included mimics. 21% of battles included mimics.
46 mimics across 20 battles, for a 2.3 mimic average.
This area has approximately a 70% drop chance per mimic.

Arena:
59 battles, of which 20 included mimics. 34% of battles included mimics.
44 mimics across 20 battles, for a 2.2 mimic average.
This area has approximately a 70% drop chance per mimic.

Kelp Beds:
31 battles, of which 10 included mimics. 32% of battles included mimics.
24 mimics across 10 battles, for a 2.4 mimic average.
This area has approximately a 100% drop chance per mimic.

Golem Workshop:
27 battles, of which 10 included mimics. 37% of battles included mimics.
21 mimics across 10 battles, for a 2.1 mimic average.

I've updated up to Kelp Beds.

I had a 100% drop rate for chests while I was there. Every time I encountered a mimic, it dropped a chest. While I'm not focusing on drop rates, I do want to get a rough idea, and the other guide isn't there yet. Is everyone else having a 100% drop rate? Or is it more like 75% and I was just absurdly lucky?

I'll definitely be going back once I'm done golem.

It does seem Woodland Path has the worst spawn rate, I've not managed to see one there at all.

Arena seems to be the best, as your numbers show. I've just had 12 consecutive mimic encounters there.

I had a similar idea, and have a little data for the Kelp Beds. Of 45 fights, 18 included mimics (42 total, for a 2.33 average). I finished 15 of those fights, and had a 100% drop rate.

I strongly believe that each type of mimic has it's own drop rate, regardless of area. Kelp Beds and Golem Workshop are both 100% drop rate for me right now, so I suspect they're always 100%.

It seems like if you can manage it, kelp or golem will be the best, but I'm going to add some more data for them.
