Would it be helpful to gather information on how frequently the mimics appear? I'm keeping a tally of encounters with and without mimics, if that's of any use...?
So far, out of 25 encounters in the Scorched Forest, two groups have had mimics. Maybe a 5% to 10% encounter rate?
Wintermane Bowman (1)
Snarling Mimic (1)
dropped Mimic Powder (1) and Strange Chest (1)
and
Snarling Mimic (2)
dropped Mimic Powder (2) and Strange Chest (1)

There have been groups of 4 in the arena. o: Most drop chests (usually 3/4), but sometimes there's a powder left.

@Carraway I've switched from farming in the Scorched Forest to the Waterway to see if the encounter rates are different. I'll ping with any results (but I'm a LOT slower in the Waterway because I can't, y'know, one-hit-KO everything).
