I just hope the Wind Ancient is not a bug aesthetic design and not a gem breed. Maybe something like an archaeopteryx to work with the existing pinions gene and play around with kite themes to tie into Wind Flight.

Unfortunately I think it's fairly likely that the Wind Ancient will be a Gem breed.
Wind already has two moderns that are both Treasure Marketplace breeds and we're due for another gem breed. Wind is also generally a popular aesthetic so making their first ancient a gem breed would encourage gem purchases for the site.
Granted I'll be pleased if it's a treasure breed but I've been saving my gems and also plan to buy gems during the next gem sale to prepare (and support the site of course).

If the Wind ancient was going to be a gem breed, chances are we'd have been made aware by now, if not sometime last month already. They gave us a pretty big heads up with Sandsurges well before July

Sandsurges were a special case where they were showing off the design process though?
I don't think the Devs are obligated to give us a heads up about gem breeds though. They don't do that for gem apparel or gem genes afteralll.
And even so, depending on when their eventual release is, we could still be well within said timeframe for giving a heads up anyway?

veilspuns and sandsurges both were announced and had design streams months in advance, and iirc it was confirmed that that's how they will handle all gem ancients(I can't find a source for that though, just from memory)
also making the finale for the first round of elemental ancients a gem breed would be pretty cruel, I highly doubt they'd do that.

Praying the wind ancient has wraith and pinions. Also shell/web, yes please.

I do wonder which direction the wind ancient will go. We already have Skydancers being all feather-y, and Spirals being very kite-like. What are some Wind-aesthetics they could play off of?

The passive-aggressive jab at my methodology for supporting the site is noted and not appreciated.
To your point, as a consumer of the developer’s product, my comment was an expression of what I would not spend my money on (a gem breed with a bug aesthetic design) and something that I would consider spending my money on (a dragon breed with heavier reptilian and bird aesthetics incorporated into the design). What the developers do with the customer feedback is their prerogative.
The developers already have an ancient gem breed that fits the bug aesthetic, the Veilspun. If they release another bug-aesthetic breed, treasure breed or gem breed, I will not buy it. That is my prerogative as a consumer.
This topic is discussing what we, the consumers, are hoping to get out of the next ancient release and when. What I hope to get out of the Wind Ancient is a dragon with a design that is not influenced by the bug aesthetic. But I do not want the Developers to rush and deliver a poorly designed product. So the release date is irrelevant to me.

Um...okay? I don't even know you much less how you choose to support the site? So I have no idea what you're talking about.
I was just using your post as a jumping off point because I personally am anticipating that the Wind Ancient could be a Gem breed and that I've been hoarding gems in preparation (which has been hard because dang people keep hatching some pretties lately).

Come on windy, come to usss
If the Wind ancient was a gem breed, the devs would have told it to us far in advance.
