I definitely need to keep this thread in mind for lore! This was incredibly interesting. :D
Also, ovens in Sornieth probably have an insane size range given how varied all the dragon breeds are.
i love this thread, it makes me wish there was a cooking feature onsite honestly. [emoji=bogsneak laughing size=1] ever since playing BOTW i’ve loved the concept of fantasy cooking. your writing style is very captivating too! i feel like you could make any topic interesting to read.
i have a suggestion for seafood pie you could add to the list, stargazey pie! there’s also fisherman’s pie. also after doing a quick search for insect food recipes i’ve discovered that mealworm pecan pie is a thing. apparently mealworms are a suitable substitute for pecans as they have a nutty flavor to them. i would absolutely try it ngl, i love the niche of insect delicacies. i’ve tried fried worms and crickets before and liked the texture but the taste not so much. nothing crazy though, they just tasted very burnt. they weren’t fresh and were really just a novelty so i know there must be better bug cuisine out there… i mean shrimp are bugs and those are delicious so it’s really not that much of a stretch to think terrestrial bugs could be just as good. [emoji=bogsneak tongue size=1]
i did not mean to go on a tangent about eating insects lol. my heart was telling me that anyone and everyone should hear me out on this and i just cannot deny what the heart wants.

[item=sheep] [item=goat]these things produce milk. So we could have cream and cheese and butter. It’s just not cow milk. I’ve actually had goat and sheep milk and used it to make cheese and ice creams irl.
The possibility exists that any of the mammal based beastclans like the longnecks(llama based) and centaurs(horse based) might also have milk and cheese as a trade good. But I think you might be better off with the sheep or goat.

I apologize for the ping but since you went on about the lack of milk and bug butter as a substitute @420Kitties
Entire flocks of these friendly animals tend to go missing whenever dragons are near. No one knows why. (Special thanks to RainChild!)

Goat
Meat
Wears an unamused expression, but could instead wear a tiny sweater. Think about it.

Longneck Interloper
Familiar
The Longneck clans are mainly indigenous to the mountains of Dragonhome. This one is a scout.

Centaur Archer
Familiar
Asking a centaur archer ’What’s your sign?’ is a sure way to put one on your back that reads ’target’.

Hello!! I just wanted to thank everyone so much for their comments, love, and contributions ;w; I never expected anyone to like this as much as I had initially, and I can't believe there are so many resources about food/cooking stuff for the game! I don't think we'd ever get a cooking mechanic so it warms my heart SO much to know other people enjoy these topics on FR
I plan to finish the savory pies, and revamp a bit of the sweet pie post since you all brought up some excellent points! I had hyperfixated on "canon" food items and tooltips without even thinking to look for dairy production animals in the meat category!!! Perhaps since the dairy comes from "meat" then perhaps it is also a "meat" category? This would make sense, since vegans and vegetarians prefer to not partake of animal products. So in this case, the amber algae argument works well for our non-meat-eating dragons that don't mind plants :D
I don't want you guys to think I gave up on this, so I wanted to let you know I plan to finish this! I have a very busy IRL schedule and my playtime is sporadic so I apologize that I can't dedicate a whole day to this like I REALLY want to XD
Love you all so much, thanks for making my ideas feel welcome [emoji=familiar heart size=1]

Oh, yes!! You're right! I admit, the pinglist feature is still so new to me I haven't even begun to utilize it... thank you so much!
I have to run some errands super soon so when I get back I will set up a pi(e)nglist for people to subscribe to :3 [emoji=familiar heart size=1]
I’m just wondering if maybe dragons are lactose intolerant? because they aren’t mammalian and don’t nurse young with milk. Maybe we have no milk food items because they can’t digest it. Either way this is very interesting. The kind of posts I live for.
