Why should they be? Just because they're rare? Once they are valued, people will breed for them, and then they're no longer rare. Does that mean they won't have value then?

Honestly, the thing is that most rare color combos are rare for a reason. Like, just plugging random colors into dragon search, there are only three seafoam/swamp/vermillion dragons ever and only one active, and that's because without a lot of tweaking those colors just don't look good together at all for most people. Dragon breeding obviously typically favors how nice the color ranges play with each other, so as you start wandering into more unappealing combos, the more likely it is that no one's ever bred them on purpose.
And despite how long the site's been around, there are still a lot of colors! The probability of multiple dragons randomly landing on the exact same spread of colors honestly isn't super high. Even with ranges that do look nice together, outside of commonly-bred colors dragons with "rare" combos are a dime a dozen. I'm a g1 lair, and I once went through my lair trying to see how many had unique or near-unique color combos, and I got bored before finishing the first page because almost every single one of them is unique or near-unique. The simple fact is that most g1s will be a rare combo because they're randomly selected instead of bred to look good.

I think the reason is that there’s not enough people who care about First Ever Color Combos (see this thread) for people to go through the effort of marketing to them. Checking each of your hatchlings for rare colors is a lot of work.

I generally only check ones that are completely wide-range. Like if all their colors are some shade of blue or green then I don't bother, I assume that will be taken.
