I thought basic terts showed on specific parts of dragons because one of my progens first kid had a white tert and since they were a guardian they had white fins, little did I know it was just the raspberry accent colors…

ohhh i just remembered another one, it's more of a lacking knowledge thing but super silly

it somehow took me over two months (of mostly lurking) to learn avatars can only be dragons

i thought i could use any picture so i spent months without a profile picture trying to find something that would look cool in the 60*60 size... only to realize my mistake when i finally clicked on the change avatar button

I only figured out it was just happenstance when my sister made her custom progen a Fae and got a Mirror as the random.

Coming into FR, I already had experience with other genetics-based petsites. These sites all had some way of allowing players to create a fully custom pet (for exorbitant amounts of premium currency,) so when I saw my first G1 lair I naturally assumed FR had a similar feature. I was aware of eggs, but I thought all the schmancy G1s I was seeing were tailormade down to the colors and flight, and I was just too poor or something to figure out how you even did that. Took me longer than I'd like to admit to piece it together. Now I understand the real struggle.

Interesting to think about how much the addition of that one feature would've changed how this game is played, the site culture and all that. Overall, I assumed FR was a lot more P2W than it actually is. Glad to have been wrong!

I thought doubles and triples were less special as they were less unique and was extremely disappointed my custom progen came out a double.

Before i ever brewed my first Bogsneak egg, i somehow thought that you needed an unhatched egg to sacrifice as an ingredient. I went out of my way to buy a 200+ gem water egg only to soon find the actual recipe didn't ask for an egg.

Mine were all pretty tame I think, the typical things you could expect from a newbie;

Initially I didn't know gene scrolls existed and that I could put them on dragons so I exalted my progens thinking they would be boring basic forever. In fact, when I was suuuper new, I thought custom skins were the only way to give dragons patterns, and that the ultimate goal on this site was to just buy or make skins. And when I finally learned about gene scrolls I was also in the "I'll never be able to afford those" boat for some time.

This is quite small but since both my progens were faes, I assumed that everyone's random progen would be the same breed as the custom. In reality I was just missing out on that 5 egg nest chance oof.

Oh and, I was so new during the first Wavecrest Saturnalia that, aside from generally not knowing what the heck was going on, I thought that "Wavecrest Saturnalia" was some exclusive dragon breed and that I of course would never be able to acquire said dragon breed. All of that because I found the dragon share theme week thread for it and didn't know any better haha.
