Hiya! I don’t post much, I’m usually a hermit FR player, but I’d love to hear people’s opinions on wether it’s worth it to Tri-Color-Scatter-Scroll their dragons, as opposed to buying or breeding new ones.
The reason I ask is because I don’t love my progenitor dragons. Inlet is alright, nothing too special or bad, but I’m not a huge fan of the bright green of Siren’s primary gene and I haven’t found a gene combo that lets me enjoy it.

I’m not unwilling to other ideas,
- tri color scattering just Siren
- just finding more complementary genes for their colors
- changing their breeds
If anyone has suggestions on which to do, or just suggestions/scries of better combos please let me know! Feel free to leave your own preference questions if you have any troublesome dragons too [emoji=familiar heart size=1]

I think scatter scrolls are perfect for dragons that have a special meaning or can't be replaced, such as progens. :> Though the downside is the next color may not be as good as the last one, so you could potentially spend a lot of gems buying scrolls until you get a combo that speaks to you. For the record I didn't love
my random progen (I think he was like...all yellows, lol) and did end up scattering him, I think I went through like 5-6 scrolls but I did get a combo I loved.

If the dragon is sentimental or special to you in any way, and you want a new look for them that can't be done via apparel, gene or breed changes... then yes, Scatter scrolls are worth it!
Just be prepared for results you might not like. If you're picky about combos, a Scatterscrolling endeavour has the potential to snowball in cost. Once you use that scroll, it can't be undone, so make sure you're comfortable with maybe getting a worse result and having to buy another scroll to "fix" it. X'D
I've personally had a lot of success with scatterscrolls. I think as long as you aren't looking for something specific it really doesn't take long to find a good combo. For example...

Only a few of my successful scatter projects. It is a lot of fun, in my opinion, trying to make each color combo work. It's up to you though, if you think the dragons are worth it. It usually takes me anywhere from 1 to 7 scatters to find something I liked and that's not cheap. For others I know it takes many more. But if they are valuable enough to you, you should go for it!

Zenzic thank you for the input… you’re totally right and I am picky so it would likely snowball into a million scatterscolls lol. I’ll stick to trying new genes for now!

to answer the title question...maybe! it really depends on what matters most to you. a ton of players exalt their progens/otherwise ignore them and thats totally valid way to play (especially bc you can always restore them so you can just like kick em out for a bit if you were so inclined)! if you want to keep your progens around though, like Those Specific Dragons of Those Specific ID Numbers, then yeah a scatterscroll can be a good way to go!
ofc when using scatterscrolls you have to be ready for the possibility that what you scatter the dragon to may just end up worse. you may end up paying 350g for something you also dont want. doesnt mean that WILL happen, but I think its important to like...be prepared for that contingency I suppose. also I think like, once you scatter a dragon once, theres like a...reshuffling impulse that can kick in for some people (me), where sometimes you just compulsively keep shuffling that one dragon because youve already done it once...? I dunno maybe its a me thing I landed on fine colors once and I almost kneejerk-scattered again before I had time to mull over the colors and realize "wait, these are actually good", so I suppose give yourself a bit of time to think over each palette? if you do more than one scatter that is [edit: it looks like someone already covered this orz]
anyway I have used scatters a couple times and I do find them to be worth it; I had a dragon I used for a breeding project and I wanted to keep him bc I got attached, but he looked too much like his kid and I wanted to break up the monotony a bit--one scatter later and I dont think his colors would be winning any awards (midnight/green/periwinkle) but he is ABSOLUTELY his own, visually-distinct man now. im really happy I both get to keep him AND get a dragon that more suits my lair [emoji=coatl tongue size=1]
also am no gonna tell you that you shouldnt scatter siren or anything; if their colors dont spark joy they dont spark joy. however. blessed are ye who wieldst the Maize Tert....its one of the most versatile terts I think (my icon rn is maize tert!), so I think there are Options; my first instinct was maize koi since it covers a lot of that bright green while also giving siren a dapple-y look, like a kelp garden or something...framing may also help, like putting them on the kelp beds scene seems like it would be a perfect look

alternately, maize soap softens those colors right up! this one I think they look like a leafy seadragon? which I love also

personally I don't think they're worth it 99% of the time, but for progens I'd say they can be if you really don't like them!! you only get two progens, they're very special, so if
any dragon should be scattered I think it should be them :)
(personally even though I didn't like my
custom progen's colours I didn't scatter her and just waited I found a good scry with a new gene six years later, but that's just my playstyle haha)

Hi! I like to scatter one of my dragon's colors whenever I get bored of them. Its fun to see what colors you get every once in a while but it can get expensive gem wise if you keep getting color palettes you don't want to keep.
Genes can help with making the colors come together better. A lot of the new genes I've seen have quite a few extra highlight colors that make gene projects really interesting. Especially for some of the funkier color combos.
I actually really like Siren's colors. She has a bright tropical fish vibe going on.(I'm also just a little biased because I really like the color green lol) I think what would work best for Siren's palette would be trying to make the greens work together with the yellow toned tert she has. If you're not too into the yellow tone that Maize has on the palette, both Leaf and Seafoam have genes with blue tones in them that can bring the whole thing into a cooler direction color wise.
Here's some gene combos I made that I think look really good together:

Chrysocolla/Saddle/Nudibranch (Matching the blue accents with the primary and secondary helps pull this one together imo, nudibranch allows the maize tert to warm up the rest of the palette to help with the yellow tone of the greens.)

Octopus/Rings/Sailfish (Playing more with the yellow tone of the tert color to pull the primary and secondary colors together.)

Swirl/Marbled/Wavecrest (This one is a little less colorful but it relies more on the greens and the yellow tone they have that goes with the tert color.)

Pinstripe/Flair/Koi (I think the light blue tones for flair and koi look nice here. I was considering fade for the primary because of the blue accent, but it felt too plain next to flair. I chose pinstripe instead because the bold lines look like they fit better with the secondary without messing with the color palette too much.)

I would say that they're worth it for dragons that are very special to you! I'll also say as someone pretty picky about her dragons, they're not bad as long as you're not married to one specific color combo and are open to *a* good combo. If you want something specific, I'd be more wary.
The longest project I had was 4 scrolls, and that was Mistmantle here (you can see his earlier combos in his bio).
