Opposite of Pearl is either Fern or Mantis (depending if you want warm or cool colours in the offspring)
Opposite of Maize is Mantis or Pear, again, depending which colours you want in the offspring

I actually have done the like, Exact opposite. when I first joined I think I wanted to breed a dragon with a maize prim and I was sweating like “pearl is one off from maize right. RIGHT???” I so badly did not want to go the whole wheel
