I love those books. I collected loads of "how to draw dragons" books some years back but those ones always got the most usage. To this day, all my printed homework gets given to my professors with at least 1 doodle of a dragon on it.

I love those books. I collected loads of "how to draw dragons" books some years back but those ones always got the most usage. To this day, all my printed homework gets given to my professors with at least 1 doodle of a dragon on it.
They're both great books with a lot of good art tutorials, some even helping you draw FR dragons better. There's a lot of proto-FR art too, like the swiftwings, and some theorized/actual old FR God art.
There's also this tutorial for Guardians as "Frost dragons," fueling the flame of that theory Guardians were never supposed to be a Water breed.

There's also Undel's stupidly cool-looking lichy boy in the second book I've hopefully censored enough for FR's taste. I don't know what the book is rated, but it was sold at Michael's in the "kids' drawing books" section. I got the book when I was, maybe 13? And my family and I thought it was fine. It's a lich, it's supposed to be nasty.

I really recommend both books for learning FR's style (and for dragons in general), but if you can only get one, get the second. It's more updated, and has a digital art tutorial!

I vividly remember the Swiftwing art. Now years later we have Tundras and Banescales which essentially look like the parents of Swiftwings.

Undel's artbooks stand out as the only how-to-draw books I had growing up that I didn't become disillusioned with as my art got better... I still love occasionally paging through them just to look at the pictures!
