TOPIC | Can your dragons fly? (with art!)
(ok so I panicked and deleted the post when it was still at 0 responses, afraid it was stupid, decided to submit it again.) I've always been interested in whether or not my dragons can fly. We know from this post that weight and wingspan does impact flight ability. One thing I never considered though was my dragons weight. So drawing my progen, I made him stubby so he'd be "larger". This meant that he couldn't fly. After realizing his weight would make him on the slim side, he turned out to be the complete opposite to what I had before. Best of all, he can fly! So if anyone is trying to figure out if your dragons are capable of flight, don't forget about their weight! A long dragon with a low weight will be proportionally smaller than a dragon of the same length with a large weight. Like so; Side-by-side; He can fly! In fact, my entire lair has gone from being all land-bound to having a tiny handful of nonflyers! Just found this really cool when designing my dragons lore and getting their true stats shown in art!

Nobody wants to tell you why discipline is so important. Discipline is the strongest form of self-love. It is ignoring current pleasures for bigger rewards to come. It's loving yourself enough to give yourself everything you've ever wanted.

Neat! A question, though, how did you find out if they could fly based on length/weight/wingspan? Curious if there is a formula to it or just an educated guess. :3

This is super cool, I love the art! I would love these for all of my Wildclaw babies honestly. I've got two boys who are just absolutely RIDICULOUS with their proportions, it's so funny. Literally a monstrous dragon, super short length wise. He'd have to be super tall and thick to have that weight. Length 3.75M, Wingspan 7.3M, Weight 683.33KG And this dude who has the largest wings out of any Wildclaw I've ever seen. Length 4.28M, Wingspan 9.19M, Weight 416.52KG I'm sure he'd fly quite well. Length 6.72M, Wingspan 8.57M, Weight 640.22KG

A little bit of both. I took the data from the Dragon Census and separated out the lows and highs for length, wingspan, and weight. If a dragon is at the high end for length and the high end for weight, I figure they have average proportions akin to site art. If they're at the high end for length but the low end for weight, I figure they'd have longer proportions. And finally, if they're a the short end for length but the high end for weight, I figure they'd be stubby with shorter necks and tails. By changing proportions but keeping their length the same, you effectively make the dragon "larger" or "smaller" to match their given weight stat. The wingspan isn't touched but they'll look comparatively larger or smaller depending on the dragons proportions! Of course, you could also canon they'd be super skinny or super buff/fat depending on their stats, but I like changing proportions more!
