Lets throw the dragons in the cauldrons and make their innards, skin, scales and bones all dissolve into a dragon mush that is later served as food to fodder
You're going to give them all mad [s]cow[/s] dragon disease. :/ [S]Is this where Plague comes from?[/S]
Baldwin is actually an extreme follower of Plaguebringer and the cauldron is his own mini Wyrmwound

Is this where Plague comes from?

I couldn't bring myself to reduce any familiars for a while because I thought they were all so cute and precious. On the topic of dragons reducing other dragons, I...don't like it. Could make for some dark lore though. Some sweet betrayal plots.

Dragon 'mats would be cool
One dragon for gold sludge? Now can make pretty genes/eggs!?

i'm in the 'throw some hair/scales/feathers/etc in to brew' camp but i'm also firmly the sort to bend 'canon' - insofar as an online sim game has a canon - to work better, so i don't think it's that serious in the first place.

I've compiled the initial reactions from all of you based on flight.
Nature: 3 feathers only, 1 melt the famliliars whole
Wind: 1 melt the dragons, 1 OMG
Ice: 1 melt the dragons, 1 feathers only, 1 prediction of mad cow disease
Shadow: 2 melt the familiars whole
Plague: 1 baldwin is in plague flight theory, 1 melt the dragons

Well my dragons spend all day slaughtering wildlife and sentient beings alike, I've just always assumed that afterwards they drag a carcass home to toss in the pot.

And of course they'd throw some fodder in. Heck, I wish that option were available, it would do wonders for the economy. I toss in familiars and scraps of apparel that are worth more than dragons all the time.

I don't mind either. Its just a game. Gamewise FR is pretty tame (well it IS made for kids too so yeah...).

Even going with your headcacnon that we throw living things in the pot and they would just.. sit in ther until coocked? (Most creatures would just jump out. If you ever tried to bath a cat you'll know that most beings will get rather...persistent if they do not want to be somewhere)
We can still say that this is probably one of the more harmless ways of going in FR.

If FR was realistic you'd only throw allready dead stuff in the cauldron - less likelyhood to be harmed opposed to throwing a spiky, clawing and biting thing in there. Much more dangerous would be walking alone or too small groups - either the beastclans rip you appart or you could stumble uppon a dominance group from another flight. And BAM you are in the middle of warzone while you only wanted to visit swipp.

Or the AH - we know canonically there is no AH. But if there was? What would it be besides a huge marketplace. And now we CAn scream about economy issies when we look at all these parents that are willing to sell their babies or even the grown dragons that are forced into slavery by their clan.

:) Gosh all these writing posibilities. Its a right dystopia. Some hero come and save this warridden land with its broken economy.

@Chespin @Amyatzu

Oh! I'd never heard of that! I'd actually been avoiding using Familiars at Baldwin's altogether because I hated the idea of killing them!

Edit: immediately goes and transmutes 2 familiars because now I know that they aren't dying horrifically. :)

I dislike the idea of boiling living creatures, so I am in the feathers camp... but once we get beyond the canon idea that Baldwin is too nice to allow living creatures in his cauldron, this idea opens the door for some truly horrific lore... Not sure whether I like it or not but it is definitely something only a designated villain dragon would do in my clan.

Edit- Also yeah, eating others of one's species is where prion diseases like mad cow or Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (the human equivalent) come from, so if we lump all dragon breeds together as one species then it is likely that a prion disease would show up if they started eating each other... then again, some of our real world lizards cannibalize each other (monitor lizards for example) so it is possible that it wouldn't. However, that is both less fun and a more simple organism than a cow? So who knows.

(Further edit- corrected the disease name, thanks Geisterwolf for the heads-up)
