TOPIC | Killers in the Clan (waitlist open!)
Redclaw looked between each of her clanmates as they shouted their votes, most in favor of exiling her, with slowly growing anger. There had just been a murder, and they are accusing her?

"Redclaw is a warrior. Redclaw has protected you all. This is how you show her your thanks?!" She spat out, wings flaring out as she got more upset.

"Go on then, exile Redclaw. Exile her, and regret it. You will lose more than just a warrior."

With that, she turned away, ready to take flight to began gathering her things, but not before saying, "Redclaw votes for Jean."

And then she was gone.

Silver watched the Wildclaw stomp away, fury practically steaming off of her. Her eyes widened. They were making a terrible mistake.

"I vote to exile Dawnbringer."

The Spiral uncoiled her body to its full length, trying to make herself seem as mature as the rest of them, trying to make her points solid and strong.

"Firstly, many of you say that the killer's words were 'straight-forward, blunt and curt'. That is no grounds for accusing Redclaw ~ the words were just as much of kindness as of sharpness... pointing to a dragoness with a heart of gold. A dragoness who would not want Glacier to feel pain in his final moments.

Secondly, Dawnbringer is a warrior. To tack on, she's traversed the realm of Sornieth, which Redclaw obviously hasn't. She's plausibly picked up a few tidbits of knowledge along the way ~ including how to make tripwires, traps and the like. Not to mention that Glacier was killed with a dagger, and we all know that Dawnbringer's oddly handy with those, don't we?

Thirdly, Dawnbringer is a "no-nonsense" dragoness ~ relating to the killer's words once more.

Fourth, at level 14, she has the highest ability out of all of us to obtain Proto Manticores in order to bait Glacier to the trap."

Silver was trying to save Redclaw, and trying to save the clan.

Shadowslash finished polishing his pearl, slinging it away in a bag hidden under his cape, sitting against his right side. He seemed to be really thinking over what Redclaw had said.

"What Redclaw says is true. What evidence do you have to be accusing her? Her..." he paused, being careful with his phrasing. "...excessively straight-to-the-point manner of speaking?"
He seemed... almost mocking, or criticising, in his own soft-spoken way.

"Or is it because she is a warrior? Because the... tool of this needless aggression was a blade, and you think that means it must be her."

Madgewick, sitting on Shadowslash's shoulder, whistled a few notes which could be roughly translated as "Finally you make a reasonable point."

"If we're going to go pointing blame for something as little as occupation," Shadowslash continued, "then the culprit could just as easily be Dawnbringer. When you look at simple facts, the two are remarkably alike, Wildclaw warriors of our clan. What exactly makes you choose one over the other?" he asked simply.

Cherus was sitting calmly, with an unreadable expression on his face. He watched silently as his clanmates cast votes. Finally he spoke:
"I vote for Dawnbringer."
His familiar, a mirror plush, was trying to catch one of the haunted candles that floated around the skydancer's wings, who sat quietly, before he finally stood up.
"I'll go work on something now", he said as he left, with the enchanted plushie hopping after him.

(Changing my vote! From Redclaw to Aldebaran.)

Jean kept watching. Kept listening. And the creeping feeling that her vote was wrong grew stronger. She forced herself to look back at where Glacier lay, look more properly. It didn't make sense. None of them matched it properly. None of them but herself, perhaps, but she knew she was innocent. But did the clan trust her? Redclaw's vote rang out against her, perfectly reasonable, the sound of someone hurt and betrayed. They were making a mistake. Redclaw was innocent.

She looked back at her clan. Her clan, already so torn and divided and scared. A leader should seem confident... but she needed to change her vote. She took a deep breath. "It seems that mistakes abound, in this situation. I was wrong, Redclaw is innocent, I withdraw my vote."

But who to vote on instead? People were swerving to vote for Dawn instead but warriors were too easy to suspect. Her eyes scanned across the dragons gathered before her, who? A witch might know the required things... But also so easy to suspect the witch. So easy to cast blame. But...

"It is too easy to accuse a warrior... We see the mark of a blade, and that's who our mind jumps to. But let's not forget the rest of the scene. A trap, made of plants, laid on the path to a needed potion ingredient. Who would have the knowledge for all of these things?" Jean was airing her thoughts for all present to hear. Better not leave that question too long, though. "I am hesitant to say this, I do not have enough evidence to solidly condemn anyone. But... Aldebaran, a witch would know plants and survival well enough for this. A witch deals in potions enough to know where to set this trap. A witch might carry a dagger which which to defend herself."

Jean couldn't shake the feeling that she was wrong, whoever she voted for. Her clan was going to be torn apart by this, and already it broke her heart. How could she ever keep them all together, all safe and happy. She had to try.

My pencil is my wand, my imagination my magic. I spin worlds from words and planets from pencils, for I am a writer and an artist and above all a creator.

Aldebaran started to shiver in fear and anger. Her name was voted to be exiled.

"Excuse me, but do you even KNOW the type of magic I work with?!" She exclaimed, holding her familar in her arms. "I don't even deal in potions that much! First of all, I'm an ARCANE witch who mostly works with RUNES and SPELLS. Plus I don't even know how to handle a dagger! Why would a WITCH want a DAGGER??!! Iit wasn't even an enchanted one!!"

On the other hand, the killer hoped that Glacier died painlessly. And who would kill someone and regret it? Someone who has "a heart of gold". Someone who traveled across Sornieth would have enough knowledge to set up a net and kill a dragon. Someone who is a warrior would get easy access to weapons, not to mention a dagger.

The young witch was about to burst into tears. "S-sorry Dawnbringer, but all the clues lead to you. We can't have a killer running around.

Aldebaran went back to her workshop, lied down and cried silently.

((TL;DR: Aldebaran got anxious over Jean accusing her and votes for Dawnbringer))

Redclaw was in her lair, gathering the few belongings she has, accepting her clanmates were final in their decision to exile her. At least Redclaw will be safe... She thought coldly.

She turned as she heard the clanging of her Spirit Armor familiar running to meet her. Through gestures and strained words, it informs her that not all her clanmates have betrayed her. Some are voting for Dawnbringer. Is that so? Redclaw's fellow warrior?

Looking at her familiar with an unreadable expression, contemplating the evidence it has told her about, she said, "Tell them Redclaw has changed her mind. Redclaw votes for Dawnbringer."

A small shudder ran through Kaleidoscope as she tried to force herself not to stare at Glacier's limp corpse they surrounded. Her head continued to pound—nothing seemed to be strong enough to get rid of this awful headache...

You're making a mistake. But who else am I to vote for? We have hardly any evidence against anyone! You always have followed the crowd, haven't you?

The Coatl's gaze slowly shifted from the empty spot where Redclaw had been and over to Dawnbringer. Suddenly everyone seemed to be voting for this other Wildclaw, even their leader, who had previously chosen to exile the other warrior...

"I change my vote to Dawnbringer," she called to her leader hoarsely, attempting not to crumple to the ground in a shaking pile of cloth and colors. What a terrible day this has been...

Erdolliel couldn't think. It seemed no one else could either. Votes were made, votes were changed and no one seemed sure of themselves.

Her bony friend was still prancing around, proud that he had convinced Erdolliel to vote for Redclaw. Yet Erdolliel wasn't convinced. If anything, she was convinced the killer would still be among them by the end of the day.

"I change my vote from Redclaw to Dawnbringer," she said quickly, before she could change her mind again.

Essence noticed that many of the dragons were changing their minds. Dawnbringer was now the main suspect. Maybe they were right? Either way, wouldn't it be best if they all decided to vote out a specific dragon, instead of being divided? "Sorry, Dawnbringer, but I change my vote to you," the Pearlcatcher said before shrinking back into the crowd, away from the limp form of Glacier.
