The Final Arc: Part 3: The Spirit
The room seems empty of everything. No items, no portals, just walls of glittering rock. And the portal you stepped from seems to have vanished...
After a while you sense something in the room, a presence. Takes some time before it makes itself known, but then part of the wall seems to come alive, and a dragon made of mist and muted glitters steps into your view.
According to the spirit, something went wrong with a portal and they ended up in the maze. At least that is what you gather from their ramblings - the spirit seems to have lost most of their memory and keeps repeating parts and skipping others. Portal accident itself is nothing new, but they mention “hungry shadows” that apparently killed them… it sounds worryingly close to the Shade.
You finally manage to steer the spirit to the topic of out-going portals. It takes some time but in the end it fades to the walls, and three different sets of runes start to draw themselves on the glittering surface.
Intricate patterns in gold forming strange animals and dragons framing an empty space. Looking closer, you notice the patterns are formed by millions of tiny runes.
Violently pink and glowing runes form a doorway into the wall of glittering rock.
Two columns of crudely carved runes made of wobbly clawmarks: the wall between them seems to waver like a mirage.
