Oh sure, she had excellent ideas a lot of the time, but that didn’t really make up for the fact that she seemed to attract bad luck. It got to the point where she would have a friend build gadgets for her to ensure that they wouldn’t spontaneously explode in her face. Oswin therefore wasn’t as surprised as she might have been to find herself trapped in a storm in the middle of a perfectly normal afternoon. Terrified, yes. But she had already accepted that she seemed to have somehow drawn Fate’s ire, and had trained herself in bad-weather flying several years ago. Her skills were rusty, but she managed to stay aloft and in control for a few minutes. Then, a sudden gust of wind threw Oswin off of her course and sent her reeling through the clouds. She squeezed her eyes shut as she felt the stinging rain on her wings. Until that rain suddenly vanished. Her eyes opened in surprise. The storm disappeared, as if it had never been. The ground she was flying above was completely unfamiliar. Steadying herself, Oswin tried to see if she could identify any landmarks, but the area had no identifying features. However, she could see two dragons flying up to greet her. Oswin dove down to meet them. She had no idea what was going on. She was thrilled at the thought of figuring it out.
