Alquist may or may not have a better chance of being recognized due to his position in potentially "classic" literature? The movie is also stunning, even if the Russian captain does have a Scottish accent. Captain Ramius is my ode to this book. Did you know that there is a rumor Tom Clancy was questioned by the FBI after the book was published? Apparently his description of the interior of an american nuclear sub was so accurate that the United States Navy assumed he had access to information he wasn't supposed to have. He had actually just thought so much about how to lay out the interior logically that he got very close to exactly right. This rumor is not confirmed, but I love the idea of it.
