venombellies
a subspecies
lore | genetics | registry | pinglist | extras
Venombellies are an open subspecies. Lineage does not matter. Please post on this thread to register. Anyone interested in breeding this subspecies is encouraged to! I am subbed to this thread, any questions or suggestions are welcome here or by DM. Graphics/Badges to come soon!
This Google Sheets tool will tell you if your dragon is a Venombelly, as well as what type it is and what other genes would qualify it to be so. You can also look at the 1460 line spreadsheet detailing the qualifying colors for each qualifying gene, but you absolutely do not have to. This sheet works best when copied into your own Google Drive!
Created by an as-yet-unknown force, these dragons have been built (not just bred!) with acid bellies and acid blood. Even the internal tissues of their body are the bright green of their bellies and wings! Little, if anything, is known about who or what built the first Venombellies.

Physiology:
- The bulk of their bodies are formed of dragonmade or worked natural materials, and their bellies are filled with toxins strong enough to compare to the Mire’s ants. Some are stitched together, some carved from stone or shaped from metal. It is not uncommon for a "mixed media" approach with both organic and inorganic materials to be used in their creation.
- They are both poisonous and venomous, though members of the subspecies are immune to the effects of their toxic body fluids. Though some can spit acid in the way cobras do, most members of the subspecies are restricted to direct biting and clawing, as the glands in their mouths and beneath their clawbeds are usually limited in spray power.
- These dragons can reproduce both by normal methods with another member of the subspecies and via possessing the innate knowledge of how to build more of their kind.
Behaviors:
- It is thought that they were initially created as weapons, but no behavioral modifications have been implemented for this purpose.
- Every Venombelly desires to create at least one more of its kind, and individuals will often dedicate a large amount of (often hidden) lair space to this goal if they cannot find a venombelly mate.
