im assuming its because the purples are inbetween the blacks and the greens, but its always really funny to me to get purple dragons from dragons that arent purple at all HJVBJHSB

Oh yeah that's some massive ranges for those two lol, contains all the blues & all the purples on all three genes!

you know how if you go into the scrying workshop, the colors dropdown menu has all the colors in a certain order? that's the floght rising color wheel! dragon offspring colors work by randomly picking a color for each gene for all the colors BETWEEN each parent's colors in that gene. so yeah all the blacks and purples are between the black/whites and the greens, and you end up being able to get these colorful babies! they're honestly pretty cute hehe

As a rough guide, the order is: whites, grays, blacks, purples, blues, greens, yellows, oranges, reds, pinks.
It's a little more complicated because some colors aren't in the range you'd think they would be, there's always a few that look out of place. But it's a good way to remember what range of colors a nest could be. The further apart the parents' colors are, the more colors the kids could potentially be. If you bred a maize XXX and a rose XXX, the babies could turn out literally any color.

this isnt actually true, the color wheel does loop back around on itself and the offspring colors are chosen from the gap on the side where theyre closer! so with maize and rose the offspring could just be maize, pearl, or rose.
