[i]Small and timid, fruitlings are somewhat of a mystery for how they came to be. Sightings of them were a rarity and were nothing more than stories of legend for as long as dragon kind could remember. Which, in reality, their scarce sightings is likely what made them so sought after. Dragons that had happened across these fearful little dragons only ever caught a glimpse before they vanished again into the underbrush, hiding in fear of the larger individual they faced. It wasn’t until their numbers began to grow that sightings became more recurrent. If one knew where to find them, and were quiet enough, they could watch as they played amongst each other and the veils that often accompanied them. One would have to be careful of the grown fruitling, however. Their once playful nature is replaced with a hostility towards any outsider - even if they remain just as skittish. They aren’t often seen with the young hatchling groups but frequently lurk around as most of the seen hatchlings come from the dragon one would be unfortunate enough to happen across. It is unknown how many adults there are, partially due to their timid natures, but also due to the fact that a vast majority of fruitlings remain as a hatchling for the entirety of their lives. Diets of the young dragons primarily consist of fruit and insects, though extremely rare instances of carnivorous behaviors have been witnessed, likely due to a lack of available food in other areas.
