Aw I'm sad you're not a fan. But maybe if you're into lore and stuff this will help.
(This boy is a bog right now, a gift from one of my friends, but I can't wait to work on him! But I'm sharing him so you can envision the statue-ness here)
When the breed launched it was super obvious that this breed is based on a cultural creature: the Chinese Stone Lions (or dogs if you prefer). FR actually has familiars based on this icon animal already. Not just in appearance but it was also woven into the excavation lore. Traditionally these creatures stood guard outside of temples, and the same is now written in FR lore as the Obelisks were stone statues against some disturbance underground.
I personally love it that FR has been creating more and more traditional types of dragons and creatures. Imps, Coatls, and Banescales being the most obvious examples, but now we have these lovely guys too! So think of this breed as a kind of contorted mythical figure. Something with real life lore beyond just an artist's imagination on a game.
This new breed is a wonderful representation of culture and tradition, all wrapped up in a little package for us to play with.
No matter what angle you want to look at it we have a new dragon breed based on something we can go out and see for ourselves.
My hatch was kind of silly but she's an exact reflection of the guaridan lion familiar the site already has, turns out! Go take a look!
I hope some nice pictures in here of other people's ideas change you mind though if you're not quite into their origin story. It hasn't been that long but so many people already have wonderful ideas on what to do with their new dragons :) It's fun to go look at everything.
