Besides Faes being small, the wings in the female pose are pretty similar to how her cape flares, a detail that I'm super happy with. The perfect earrings also got added to the game shortly after I made my plans for her, so she even got that blessing from the FR gods. I'm especially proud of using Okapi instead of a shirt/waistcoat, it properly highlights the head, as the shirt collar should! And of course can't forget about the classic 'wrappings to allude to the Punisher' trick. She was, and will forever be, my quickest project, hatched from the first nest! I don't usually deal in light colors, but as soon as I saw that skin, I simply *had to*. She's radiant and I love her. His Soil tert took me ages to figure out (I'll give it to you this ONE time, Capsule, but you're still on thin ice), and he's gotten not one, but two outfit revisions since I started working on him. He's finally appropriately succulent-themed, although now I sort of wish he had slightly different colors... I tought I'd let it go, but after a few days I ended up trading her for one of my NotN hatches, and eventually turned her into her current royal self. [/columns] [columns] A sunny boy! I don't usually deal in warm colors, but a nice skin is a nice skin, and this one inspired me. I'm truly satisfied with how he came out in the end, even though he's a little out of my comfort zone. He did make me like warm colors more, though! Gnarly has a pretty fun story: it all started when I was looking at old event skins and found this one, surprisingly cheap in the AH too. Then, when I was planning the dragon for it, I had the realization of 'hey, this goes super well with Crackle!', so I made it a point to use the gene and spite everyone (including myself) who hates it. Lastly, when his parents were nesting, the new eye types came out, and he hatched with Bright! It ended up matching him better than all my previous plans. Truly, he's a creature born of magically aligned circumstances. [/columns] [columns] My Skydancer obsession strikes yet again! Florence started out with an outfit plan, and for a little while I had no idea how I'd want the dragon wearing it to look. I had several versions around trying to see which one feels [i]right[/i], and ended up with this modest, simple look. I feel like it emphasizes the outfit more than a shinier-spraklier morphology would, and also gives her an air of knightly virtue. I don't usually deal in XXY patterns or matching primary/secondary genes (seems like an easy way out to get a coherent look), but after months and months and months of looking at six different plans for this skin, this is what it came down to, and I'm truly happy with it! I 'intended' to finish Hallow for calendar-accurate Halloween, but I planned her outfit today, and just couldn't stop myself. She's from one of my first self-hatched nests ever, born almost 2 years ago. She immediately got her name when I saw her colors, and soon after got hibernated because 'oh I'll make a Halloween dragon out of her one day!'. Took me a while, but now she's back in all her spooky glory! A common example of my usual 'sees cool skin - plans dragon for it - can't decide which plan - fridges project for several months' process, which got broken by the release of eye vials. Finally he's real and I can go 'wow dragon pretty'. [/columns] [columns] Another rework: The Mire update finally gave me the motivation to come up with a Look for my trainer, Jungler. Although I don't have any kind of lore for my dragons, sometimes I have a strong concept of what they would be like if I did. In his case, I always imagined him as almost one with nature, knowing the Mire like the back of his hand? paw?, and extremely mindful to cause only the least amount of disturbances when traveling through the forest. He really truly managed to blend in well in his old look (saved in his bio), but I was missing seeing his orange primary constantly. This improved look might not show that much more of it, but with the brown additions, it might emphasize it more. See, I've always found it fun to look at others' solutions to recreating a character within FR's confines, but I'm still sure that's not my thing. However, after months of looking at DMC5's desktop icon in passing, it hit me that 1, those colors are Excellent 2, even though I don't feel like I could do justice to a character, I can most defnitely make something cool with just a color scheme! And boy did I. (I still can't believe my luck that this accent exists. Literally perfect.) [/columns] [columns] Behold! My first Veilspun! I'm slowly defeating indecision one revived project at a time. I have fallen madly in love with platinum StarCon (and platinum in general to a lesser degree) while planning this one. And also with violet StarCon, which was my other option, and now I'll have to plan something for that too... In the end I chose this version because of platinum's resemblance to gray hair, which make her look older and wiser. It was that not-so-vague witch potential she had, and I for sure wanted to have a witch. Finally that potential is realized, and I can check off another must-have project idea. I've been meaning to dress this guy since I hatched him, and then it took a while to perfect his outfit (I'm still not sure about the absence of wingplates, but the alternative is color chaos...), but the decision to make him match with [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/68987288]Florence[/url] helped a great deal with figuring things out. Now I'm considering making a whole order of rose knights... Well, apparently my love for DMC cannot be stopped by such self-imposed limitations, so now I have not one, but two Vergil fandragons: The DMC3 version. Simple, but colorful. I so so wanted to represent the red/orange inside of his coat, it's one of my favorite things about that design, how awesome that there exists an accent perfectly suitable for that! And on top of that, it makes the red accent on the katana not stand out that much. Also blue, blue, my beloved blue! [/columns] [columns] YOU. The DMC5 version. I would have, and still would give anything for this dragon. And I have, kind of, considering he cost me 80% of the almost 4000g worth of currency it took to finish these two. I'm so proud of how he turned out. The Filigree for the coat embroidery, the 'vest', the Stormclaws (both to replace the katana, curse the red accent on that, and for the lightning. It does hide the gloves though, but I promise it's there underneath and it's blue and it matches!). He's got the details, the elegance, and my heart. I remember gazing wistfully at this skin, among many others, when I started out on FR. Back then I couldn't afford them, and then I promptly forgot. Now, however, I have a vast hoard, and my bramble obsession will no longer remain caged! Honestly, the only reason I'm not in Shadow at this point is because of the eye color, but maybe... [/columns] [columns] Round two! I couldn't just let Vergil(s) be all alone, after all, so here are the matching Dantes! Quite surprisingly, making the outfit for this design was the more challenging out of the two, because of the decision to leave the wings without apparel, although I still find it more justified than adding any of the wing apparel pieces. Here are some fun facts too: he's almost completely identical to my 3Vergil (the only exception is the secondary gene), and they are also actually twins! I spent quite some time looking at the developing plans side by side with my 5Vergil to make sure that they [i]matched[/i], despite being very much different. In the end, they ended up sharing the basic/gem/gem gene pattern, the black primary with (basically given) white secondary colors, and the eyes (as usual). I'm super happy with how matchy I managed to make both versions in the end! And as the cherry on top, this guy was born on Valentines. I still can't believe my luck on that one, especially considering my chances... [/columns] [columns] Let's see, take two different aesthetics, tie them together with a Biblical (and a song, if you squint) reference and the power of maroon and... perfect, you got yourself a new dragon! I couldn't possibly expect the apparel to match this seamlessly, so it came as a bit of a surprise when this dragon ended up having only two colors, but luckily it just further cements their vibes. The babies were quite decent, however I just couldn't figure out what to do with any of them... Until yesterday, when I realized I could turn this girl into another rose knight! Luckily I already had the rose apparel brewed, so I could complete her almost instantly. Now she's my online-namesake, a Knight of Roses, and also my second ever avatar, most probably here to fill that position for a long long time! [/columns] [columns] Impulse project 100% speedrun, from planning to completion, all in just an afternoon! I'm so glad I didn't have to wait for this one. She's just perfect! [/columns] [columns] Ultra quick surprise project! This new Greenskeeper accent was right up my alley, so much so that I went and designed a dragon for it right away. And I didn't even get stuck in indecision this time! My goal was to match the skin (the eyes for the glow, the tails for the horns), but avoid introducing any strong patterns that would divert attention from the accent's vibrant parts. Obsidian XXYs being easy to find was just the cherry on top! I could only manage a proper outfit for a single Nero dragon, but to compensate for that, I did everything in my power to make that one dragon the best. Restarting the breeding project from scratch (when I realized that hey, I could actually have *both* the blue wings and the white mane with an accent), maintaining an Excel sheet as a project catalog when the dragon count went way past the 50s, figuring out photoshop to make the accent, you name it, I've done it all for him! Planning him was an awesome exercise in the importance of color balance, and I'm [i]beyond[/i] satisfied with the mane/wings. And I love him oh so much. [/columns] [columns] Keeper's plan was originally going to be a modern breed, but when I gave the colors a try on an Aberration, that changed right away. I've had a little hesitation letting go of the modern scry, so he's been waiting around for some time after hatching, but now with a fresh pair of eyes the choice seems obvious! I just can't get enough of Fissure on these guys... Laurel has a color scheme that's significantly different from my usual go-tos (it's the black-and-white), which makes her seem like the odd one out in my lair. However, the apparel and the colors in general turned out to be way matchier than I ever could've hoped. I'm still very much enamored with the concept of rose knights, and I can't wait to introduce more of them! I'm beyond satisfied with the color matching on this one, and on top of that I think I've fallen completely in love with lead. How lovely that my final scy ended up with double lead, and now I actually [i]have[/i] a dragon with the color instead of just wishing I did! The Order of the Rose seems to be shaping up nicely... I'm usually immune to impulse buying AH dragons because I basically never go to the dragons tab, but there [i]was[/i] a dom battle and I [i]had[/i] to check the prices... and then I got captivated by her colors and patterns. Zero regrets though, she was well worth both the price and the wait for her outfit! It took me almost a year and a half, but I'd be lying if I said the sense of accomplishment wasn't worth it!
