The day crawled on, and light began trickling in through the cracks in the stone ceiling. As the rays hit the rocks, something changed - they began to glisten in the sunlight, glowing an almost unnatural hue of yellow - it was all gold! But there, right there, right between the clumps of gold, something was slithering along the ground. Something small, feathered, and just as gold as the precious metals filling the cavern. Sargo knocked shards away with his claws, pounding the lumps of gold with as much strength as his tiny body could muster. He mumbled to himself, "Gold, gold... it's always just more gold. I need something more. Something..." "Sargo!" His mother called from the distance, startling him into knocking his head against the pile in front of him. He shook away the surprise. Sargo didn't spare the gold a second glance and took off towards their den. He was going to be grown soon, and when the time came, he would search for as long as it took until he found something else. Something that wasn't perfect, or shiny, or priceless. He was tired of living surrounded by gold and gemstones. Sargo wanted something real, something alive, and he was going to make sure he got it.
