Welcome to Wondrous Wildlife,
a menagerie of animals from far and wide.

Specializing in animal-themed dragons with some oddities on the side. Dragons are organized into categories based on priority of primary gene, then secondary gene, then tertiary gene.

This is a journal of my breeding projects/goals for my hatchery! Eventually I want to create an actual association with finalized breed standards.

Note: Unless it's relevant to a design, tertiary genes will be left as basic. All eyes of the examples below are Wind and I may play around with the rarity without telling :D

2nd Note: I know the scrolling is dumb on this, I didn't set it up properly when I first started for the amount of content I would eventually add. The official association will be much more navigable! Sorry <3

Orange Tiger (no specific species) I started with striped wings: Tiger/Striped/Okapi - Orange/Orange/Orange Then I discovered Safari wings which are a perfect fit: Tiger/Safari/Okapi - Orange/Orange/Orange Leopard Leopard/Rosette/Basic - Lemon/Yellow/Lemon Pretty simple XYX to match real leopard colors closely Here's a different color combo of Lemon/Lemon/Grapefruit which I like more since it mimics the dynamic tones of real leopard fur Snow Leopard Leopard/Rosette/Basic - Silver/Silver/Silver Even more simple. Feliformes
Big Cats
Today I played around with "true species" for some cats. I chose to model them with Imperials at random. They do have some cat-like features which make them a good fit. I also think mirrors and obelisks are acceptable for cat species.
Orange Tiger (no specific species)
I started with striped wings: Tiger/Striped/Okapi - Orange/Orange/Orange
dragon?age=1&body=47&bodygene=2&breed=8&element=3&eyetype=10&gender=0&tert=47&tertgene=0&winggene=2&wings=47&auth=c2f5cda9903601bf762e6a89f042bf1795845cb1&dummyext=prev.png

Then I discovered Safari wings which are a perfect fit: Tiger/Safari/Okapi - Orange/Orange/Orange
dragon?age=1&body=47&bodygene=2&breed=8&element=3&eyetype=10&gender=0&tert=47&tertgene=0&winggene=18&wings=47&auth=0c20b6adb0bb444b522a471c0ddd970c830928b5&dummyext=prev.png
Leopard
Leopard/Rosette/Basic - Lemon/Yellow/Lemon
Pretty simple XYX to match real leopard colors closely
dragon?age=1&body=42&bodygene=40&breed=8&element=3&eyetype=8&gender=0&tert=42&tertgene=0&winggene=19&wings=104&auth=ce54de121f0bb86056d94183f45255d739b3e5fd&dummyext=prev.png

Here's a different color combo of Lemon/Lemon/Grapefruit which I like more since it mimics the dynamic tones of real leopard fur
dragon?age=1&body=42&bodygene=40&breed=8&element=3&eyetype=9&gender=1&tert=128&tertgene=0&winggene=19&wings=42&auth=7a28ede17b633ee4115b6974a392d85ca6ab8305&dummyext=prev.png
Snow Leopard
Leopard/Rosette/Basic - Silver/Silver/Silver
Even more simple.
dragon?age=1&body=5&bodygene=40&breed=8&element=3&eyetype=8&gender=0&tert=5&tertgene=0&winggene=19&wings=5&auth=145691d2692259fb22d17bc182604365912c7b23&dummyext=prev.png

I played with the colors a little, I think any color between Moon and Gloom would be acceptable for this species. The ones before are too light, and the ones after are too dark.
Grey/Moon/Orca
dragon?age=1&body=6&bodygene=40&breed=8&element=3&eyetype=8&gender=0&tert=131&tertgene=0&winggene=19&wings=74&auth=4e14a1ebd463fa1d284326dc1da8c57bd531fc10&dummyext=prev.png
Clouded Leopard
Leopard/Daub/Basic
This species could have other light-brown/grey-brown/brown color combos, but I liked this combo the best: Sand/Driftwood/Soil
dragon?age=1&body=50&bodygene=40&breed=8&element=3&eyetype=3&gender=0&tert=54&tertgene=0&winggene=7&wings=165&auth=c05083ef60bf8de8f62e8bad078618f24626ff77&dummyext=prev.png

Contribute by spireclaw
Rather than Leopard/Daub, spireclaw chose Swirl/Marbled. Colors are Stone/Stone/Antique which match Clouded Leopard colors so perfectly.

dragon?age=1&body=52&bodygene=57&breed=8&element=6&eyetype=8&gender=0&tert=97&tertgene=0&winggene=57&wings=52&auth=21104d48f0f9416e9d1ea33e04dd0a1481260a0d&dummyext=prev.png

Leopard/Clouded/Basic
This next design was inspired by the color scheme from spireclaw (Stone/Stone/Antique). The one after uses my original color idea (Sand/Driftwood/Soil) for comparison.

Hyaenidae
Striped Hyena
This time I had an excuse to use an imp because they're the only breed with a mane that matches this hyena species perfectly. I wasn't quite sure what to do with the wings so I just picked stripes: Stone/Stone/Stone, Pinstripe/Stripes/Okapi.

dragon?age=1&body=52&bodygene=22&breed=8&element=3&eyetype=10&gender=0&tert=52&tertgene=9&winggene=2&wings=52&auth=8b84fe70a5865c05a3d1d7260fb8e3b6f5b4c0d7&dummyext=prev.png

Giraffes
A few months ago I adopted a perfect representative for Giraffe genes: Giraffe/Hex/Stained. The colors are Sand/Sand/Terracotta.
dragon?age=1&body=50&bodygene=12&breed=6&element=1&eyetype=1&gender=0&tert=108&tertgene=12&winggene=14&wings=50&auth=1e9ae741859c0aa21fcfc0f32aac3a31a374e2cf&dummyext=prev.png

Another color combination I tried with this dragon was Caramel/Orange/Terracotta which with the stained gene gives the dragon a very dark but distinctly giraffe-y look:
dragon?age=1&body=156&bodygene=12&breed=6&element=1&eyetype=1&gender=0&tert=108&tertgene=12&winggene=14&wings=47&auth=a215bc04e6593681baa9bb9327269b9bd0800473&dummyext=prev.png

Overall I think the Tundra is a great fit for Giraffes, since they have a bit of a mane and two glorious "horns". Though the combination of genes as well as colors go well with any of the modern species so it will be hard to make a final choice. Here's a Windclaw with Giraffe/Hex/Basic and Caramel/Orange/Terracotta:
dragon?age=1&body=156&bodygene=12&breed=10&element=3&eyetype=1&gender=0&tert=108&tertgene=0&winggene=14&wings=47&auth=b1d88d48dddc6957e7a84e3841c0226b29a555ec&dummyext=prev.png

Here's a windclaw and a fae with a lighter color scheme, since real giraffes aren't nearly that dark orange (Honey/Flaxen/Grapefruit)
dragon?age=1&body=93&bodygene=12&breed=10&element=3&eyetype=9&gender=1&tert=128&tertgene=0&winggene=14&wings=139&auth=24fa2b503cba1e483918a284123e502cc629ac9a&dummyext=prev.png

Tapirs
Then, here's a darling little tapir I adopted recently too! Tapir/Striation/Runes, Abyss/Abyss/Azure While not strictly a natural color combination, I have always found the black tapir fur to have a slight iridescence to it so I find the Azure adds that personal depth for me.

dragon?age=1&body=96&bodygene=21&breed=8&element=2&eyetype=1&gender=0&tert=27&tertgene=14&winggene=21&wings=96&auth=382f8d1ca75834eb11c7173abf9053f21774a33b&dummyext=prev.png

Or how about Eldritch/White/Midnight to keep that iridescent glow while being a bit more realistic, with a different breed to top it off:

This scry by Bxy26 is a wonderful example of Noxtide as the secondary gene as well: Lionfish/Noxtide/Smoke with berry/berry/flaxen to give the dragon a very realistic color scheme!

Bxy26 also switched to the Banescale breed which is genius! Ancient breeds are tricky since their genes are separate but this looks great! Chevron/Arrow/Trimmings

Koi
My koi requirements are the same as the Koi Dragon Association. Piebald/Paint/Basic. Below is an example of a Kikusui breed.

Eels
I haven't personally explored these genes yet but I've been wanting to! Bxy26 created a ribbon eel which is darling! Ribbon/Eel/Contour with Lapis/Lapis/Phthalo.

dragon?age=1&body=148&bodygene=84&breed=7&element=8&eyetype=0&gender=0&tert=151&tertgene=13&winggene=84&wings=148&auth=ab010bfda1c93ffc81a64e9a0aaa0b618b5d80f3&dummyext=prev.png

Poison Frogs
The poison frogs are pretty easy. The gene combo is Toxin/Poison/Basic. The color combos can be anything since in the wild the frogs have a ton of variation. Below are three examples from my lair.

Salamanders
I really liked the Swirl/Marbled/Basic combination, so I decided to apply it to salamanders. A lot of species have subtle markings so I thought this would be good for them. Here's an example from my den: Peacock/Emerald/Jungle

hi! i decided to mess around with scrys since i really like the idea of this project and would like to contribute (as a big animal lover it is my duty)

Clouded Leopard
#2106249

i think this type of scry could work for clouded leopard as well. unlike the indian and african leopard, clouded leopards have larger spots that create a sort of swirl pattern hence why i chose the swirl/marble genes

i hope this helps!

Hiya! Thanks for taking interest in my projects :D

@ClownEngaged Fae as giraffes...I'm definitely going to see if I can pull that off, brilliant! Also yes feel free to add any scries! I'll add them to the official journal pages :D

@spireclaw That clouded leopard is absolutely stunning! The gene combo+colors is purrfect! Do you mind if I add (and credit) this scry to the list for big cats?
