Elemental Hybrids
Demigod dragons' connections to their element are so strong, they can even pass down slivers of their connection to their offspring. When two Demigod dragons of different elements breed, their offspring are called Elemental Hybrids, dragons sitting right in the middle of the two elements and exhibiting a little power and traits from both.
There are 55 different Elemental Hybrid species. It will take me a while to write about all of them, even longer to make them look nice.
Each Elemental Hybrid includes the color range, so you can tell how aesthetic a certain hybrid could be.
The requirments for all the Elemental Hybrids are as follows:
Bred by parents who fit ALL of the requirements for two of the Demigod Species above (Parents not having the correct element is ok, since the nest will imbue them with the elemental power needed)
Bred in a nest from one of the two elements of the subspecies.
Example: A dragon who is close to being a fire demigod, but has arcane eyes and element, bred with an earth demigod will provide a valid Magma Hybrid hatchling as long as the nest was earth or fire.
Magma hybrids
Earth and Fire
Magma hybrids are named after the melted rocks the reside within Sornieth's core, eventually spewing out of cracks in the Ashfall Waste, cooling until it becomes stone, and then slowly being buried until it rejoins the magma in the mantle. In this way and many others the elements of Earth and Fire are closely connected, and dragons who harbor connections to both elements are usually at peace.
Horizon Hybrids
Earth and Wind
Named after the distant view where the sky and the earth finally touch, Horizon dragons often struggle with the opposing elements within them. With decades of practice a balance and peace between the two can be obtained, and this mastered combination is said to be one of the most beautiful, like two long-lost friends finally reaching each others' hands.
Shore Hybrids
Earth and Water
The shores of Sornieth are all different, but equally majestic. Whether it's an ocean crashing loudly against a rocky cliff or a gently sloping beach of soft sand, it's still where the water and the earth meet. Shore hybrids are just as variant. In some dragons the two elements clash powerfully, in others, it's a trickling song.
Cavern Hybrids
Earth and Shadow
The further underground you go, the darker it gets. More and more light is replaced by earth over your head. Earth dragons are dragons of history, Shadow dragons are dragons of trickery. Cavern Hybrids hide dark, long-kept secrets deep inside their soul. They're often quiet and hard to read, a good person to confide in.
Glacier Hybrids
Earth and Ice
The earth flight looks to history like the long-lasting rocks they stand on, while the ice flight holds tightly to their rules and traditions. Glacier hybrids tend to have an amplified focus on the past and staying true to it, like a Gaoler's duty set in stone. This stubbornness and being unwilling to change can be powerful and the elements of ice and earth do compliment each other well- there's a reason why glaciers can travel across continents and barrel through mountains so easily- but the strong resistance to change is often seen as a low point by others.
Era Dragons
Earth and Lightning
When one thinks of the historic Earth flight and the inventive lightning flight coming together, they often think of opposition first. One element is all about the past, while the other is all about the future, but most Era dragons live through life without much trouble. They're able to respect the way things used to be and eagerly work towards a new way, resulting in an open-minded and wide point of view on life. The only thing they don't have on their mind is the present.
Pillar Dragons
Earth and Light
Pillar dragons are named after the similarities between the tall columns at Sunbeam Ruins and the Pillar of the World in Dragonhome. It's fitting, because the earth and light flights are so similar to each other that a Pillar Hybrid can live a life just as trouble-free as a single-element dragon. The pursuit of truth and desire to record history are not very different. Most pillar dragons have an incredibly sharp mind and good memory, and will hang on every word you utter to make sure it lines up with what you've said and will say.
Trench Dragons
Water and Shadow
Trench hybrids are often a danger to both themselves and others. The power to see the future is entertaining to them, often nothing more than a game. Water dragons are known for viewing multiple future outcomes, but never revealing them to outsiders. The shadowy side of Trench hybrids have them focusing on the more sinister futures, and they enjoy dropping hints or dangling information as bait, sometimes even using their predictions as a form of currency.
Pollution Dragons
Water and Plague
Water's fluidity and Plague's survivalist culture combine to make a hybrid that can endure practically anything. No matter what troubled waters a Pollution dragon may see lying ahead, they will face it willingly and head on, determined to show their strength and adaptability by working through the situation instead of avoiding it. These dragons are known for getting out of any danger alive, like tainted water that escapes through even the tiniest cracks.
