Stained or Firefly might be the only way to handle this unless I leave it basic OTL

I know how the "great main/secondary, weird tert" song and dance goes. Nemo, my Ice Primal G1, jhas the same issue. I don't want to scatter him again but his tert is SUNSHINE. I'm just swallowing my pride and leaving it basic.
Those two scries look great, though. I'd like it if Veils had Spines. It's a good tert-hider, but I think Spines is also just cool.

Oh gosh, at least Oilslick is dark! I think I'd have cried if he got a bright non-matching tertiary, and Sunshine is among the worst... But if it's a really good color combo otherwise, sometimes it's worth it to leave it basic :'D

Actually, hilariously it just happened AGAIN! After I saw your thread I went back and scattered [i]my[/i] Lightning Primal G1... and got Lead/Abyss/BUTTERCUP. AHHHHHHHH
I'm actually going to scry your boy. I think he looks great as-is right now, maybe you could leave him and save up more gems and decide later?

If you wanted to, you could commit to the full-on Lightning aesthetic/theme and make him seem robot-y, with Capsule, almost like a tank of fuel.

Yep, outside of the Buttercup he's pretty much perfection. All he needed was a super dark tertiary for Wraith on Banescale. I don't know if I have the heart to scatter again. I really wanted Wraith, but I may just find a good accent and call it for now.

Personally I don't think I could make myself scatter that unless I had money to get a
ton of scatters... And even then, it could be next to impossible to get a good scatter like that again! The gambling! Dx
I'm not totally against the robot idea actually--I currently have a little permababy robot (who I
really wish I could get primal eyes for actually) so it could work? But at the same time I kinda want him to just be this really gorgeous dragon who's totally flawless and wowie he's a good boy ain't he~ bahah
But yes, this seems to be a problem with a lot of projects and gen1s in general... One color always ruins the whole combo! Dx

He does! The tertiary could definitely be worse, I just wish I could make it work nicely :'D But that's usually how scatters go...
I debated on scattering him again, but there's no way I'd ever get another Abyss or Phthalo primary with workable colors, so he's probably going to stay like this! I really wish Sphinxmoth was available for modern breeds because that gene makes me wanna turn everyone into a Veil and I totally would with him, but then I wouldn't be able to dress him D:

It's not actually that bad, it's got a stormy sky / galactic kinda feel. I think it's the secondary ruining it for me honestly, I was expecting the Plum to be a no-go.
