My clan's mortal enemies do not even see each other on a daily basis, and it's a good thing, too.
Periphae
Rache
Rache is, in many ways, a distorted mirror image of Periphae. They are both confident leaders, but while Periphae retains the true gift of future sight from her Water birth, Rache simply hears the commands of what she thinks are the Plaguebringer, and obeys them. Where Periphae is warm and welcoming, Rache is cold, empty, emotionless. A benevolent clan leader versus a tyrant queen.
Rache began their feud long ago, when Periphae's clan still lived in The Sea of a Thousand Currents, making their home on the banks of the Fishspine Reef. Rache, born straight of the Wyrmwound, had received her command to bring the world to ruin. She despised then (and still does now) any dragon with eyes or alliance to any Flight besides the glorious Plague. Army after army she trained with her general (and at that time, consort),
Runefall, but her soldiers were defeated by
Percivale, Periphae's general, and her soldiers. After much struggle, Rache decided she would best serve the Plaguemother by making sacrifices to Her from Her home territory instead of trying to overrun the world with Plague alone. She believes her sacrifices strengthen the Wyrmwound, helping it to expand ever wider until the world is destroyed and reborn.
In present day, Rache still despises Periphae, unable to understand how a (at the time) small Water Flight clan had managed to beat her legions of well-trained and loyal soldiers. And she still hates Periphae for the disease that caused her first children to be born with the cursed eyes of another Flight. She has sworn that, when the world is finally overrun and ends in Plague, she will be the one to kill Periphae.
Periphae, for her part, looks upon the tragedies her clan suffered at the hands of The Vengeful (Rache's cult, who canonically lives in the Plaguelands shh) as an unnecessary waste of life. She knows The Vengeful is still out there, and that Rache is carefully plotting her revenge. Periphae is ready, however. Percivale has trained
new soldiers since then, and Periphae has employed a
spy to look into any Plague dragons that try to enter the clan to see if they are spies sent from The Vengeful.
Both Fae are waiting. For what, neither of them are sure. But as long as the other exists, they cannot and will not rest.
