His younger brother turned up in my lair a while later, and despite them both being from Nature, Ackerlea is... not as in tune with the forests as Sylvain is. Lea is very competitive, whereas Sylvain just loves the woods. Sylvain is a woods guide, but he's usually out there even when he has no-one to take anywhere.
Sylvain has made a close friend and something of a mentor/teacher in the form of Alberich, the clan's first herbalist/weird reclusive woods wizard. They share a lot of interests and passions, and they will also share their trade secrets, experiments, and other projects, and can often be found together (if at all; they're both uncannily good at not being seen unless they want to be). While Alberich is definitely a lot more... shifty, lacking in true empathy and prone to taking things a bit too far at times, with some morally questionable views and hobbies, Sylvain hasn't got a selfish, callous or malicious bone in his body. He'll sometimes display a hint of shock at Alberich's methods and obsessions, but he still can't bring himself to judge the Spiral as he knows the results are usually beneficial to the clan as a whole, even if the journey to the solution gets a bit dark from time to time. Alberich and his obscure ways are a necessary creep factor on the outskirts of the clan's land. No-one else possesses the kind of knowledge he has, or the skills and supplies to make use of it, none of them know where he gathers his herbs, and if nothing else the Spiral is far from squeamish. When the time comes to put his work to practical use he is unparalleled in both ability and dedication.
