Kanaloa may not look like much, but he's a pirate captain through and through, prepared to swashbuckle with the best of them.

His sons Hoku, Nawai, and Aukai make up the bulk of his crew, with varying amounts of enthusiasm. Hoku's in it for the treasure, Aukai for the adventure, and Nawai because he can't figure out how to get out of it.

Yet it's not one of the sons who is heir to the captaincy, but rather Kanaloa's niece Artaban, who's the most diligent of the bunch despite having the least authority, due to her young age. Artaban was literally born to be a pirate (being born on Talk Like a Pirate Day), and is totally invested in every part of it. And also seashells. She loves seashells as much as she likes treasure, if not moreso.

Special mention goes to Kaimana, Kanaloa's dad and unwitting inspiration. He's the captain of a (respectable) ship, and may have accidentally planted the seeds of piracy in his son. They're on good terms despite often being on opposite sides of a situation. (He was also born on TLAP Day, his granddaughter sharing his birthday, though in his case it was entirely coincidental.)
I also find it funny how many Pearl pirates use the cartographer accent, while I gave it to my Feng Shui practitioner. But that's neither here nor there XD;
