Fast-forward to the recent past, he defied the clan's leader, Leviathan, based on the belief that he could do better in that position, her challenging him to a duel to prove himself to her. Emperor very narrowly won, now being the monarch of the clan and one could say he does make for a better leader than Leviathan.
