*wheezes frantically and shoves two dragons out*
These two. THESE TWO.

No, no, you don't understand-they're the most dis functional couple I have in my lair and my main Flight Rising OTP forever. You know that one couple, that one couple you see in shows who are always arguing and the wife is super annoying and conceited and the husband is an absolute jerk yet he always gives in to his wife because she normally starts crying if she doesn't get her way and starts telling her husband that he doesn't love her?
Yes, this is that couple.
Oh gosh where do I start with their story? Laila, the skydancer is the courier/messenger/mail woman of her clan. She got the job because she happens to be the best flyer in the clan and because it's the only thing she's willing to do without complaining...much. She's got an ego the size of three guardian dragons and always has to be the centre of attention. She's a drama Queen who knows she's beautiful and takes offence if you don't comment on how gorgeous she is. Vain is pretty much too nice of a word when describing her and she can't stand ugly things. So it absolutely horrified her when, after making a delivery to a neighbouring ice clan, a huge ridgeback dragon followed her home with the intention of being her mate.
Inzer is the ridgeback dragon who followed her home. His ego is just as big as Laila though his is focused more on his fighting skills and strength than on his looks. He believes he's the best fighter in the whole land and will fight you to prove it. If he wins the fight, he won't stop gloating. If he loses, he'll prove to be a very sore loser, claiming his opponent either cheated or that he let them win. Inzer is also incredibly short tempered and tends to use his claws when it comes to dealing with problems. He's a fighter, a big brute, not a thinker.
It was love at first sight for Inzer; mesmerized by her beauty as she flew back home, the brutish ridgeback decided the skydancer was going to be his mate come shade or high water. So he followed her home and made his intentions to her very clear, not expecting a rejection. After all, he was a powerful dragon, a dragon capable of protecting his mate. Plus, as an added bonus, he was pretty decent looking (or so he liked to believe). What female would be able to resist him? So he asked Laila to be his mate, expecting she would be honoured.
What he got instead was an irritated snort and a haughty reply that he wasn't good enough for her-that he was too ugly, too large and too crude for her "sophisticated tastes."
Needless to say he was shocked. Them, once the shock wore off, he was furious. Furious that this skydancer-this mere slip of a dragon who he had graciously honoured-actually had the gall and audacity to throw back his offer in such an ungrateful manner. It was absolutely unfathomable to him. After all, didn't this female realize who he was? he was Inzer, the best warrior in all the land! He was a dragon with strength! With power! With skills! Plus he was good looking! What more could a female want in a mate?
Then, when she refused to budge even after his show of anger, when she rudely told him to "go back to whatever hole he had crawled out from", and even though he hated the water and was constantly complaining about getting wet, he decided to stay in the water clan-in her clan just to spite her.
A month; that's how long it took him to realize that he was impressed by the female skydancer's arrogance and confidence and beauty. Two months for him to realize that, despite his irritation he was still attracted to Laila. Three months for him to receive another rejection-
-which turned into three years of him continuously getting rejected by her.
Eventually though, impressed by his tenacity and his confident arrogance, she decided to give him a chance. he courted her for a year and then four years after the first day he asked her to be his mate, she said yes.
If asked why she said yes, both Inzer and Laila will say it was for love. If you ask anyone else in the clan, they'll casually mention the pearl jewellery decorating Laila's body...
