Oh goodness, I love writing about my dragons, here are two of my best;
Zania is a rather eccentric dragon.
Her apparel says it all and she jingles satisfactorily whenever she moves.
She often spends her days away from the lair, letting her mate Moonpool lead the clan. Once saying, "I may be the founder, but that doesn't mean I must be the leader. I'm no good at that kind of stuff." Most of the clan believes this to be lie as Zania has directed them through many a struggle, by only using her brain. Although they do lean on Moonpool for support, Zania is the immediate consultant in a jam. Her unbelievable sassiness can shut up any rival. She is the smartest dragon of them all and seems to have an endless supply of knowledge.
Even though she does not interact with them much, as she is so busy, most of her offspring look up to her as their idol. Zania often regrets that she does not spend enough time with them, but for some reason, cannot do anything about it. However, she is pleased that none of them, including the rest of the clan, don't understand her odd ways. Zania likes to keep dragons guessing.
No one aside from Vulcan knows where Zania ventures on her constant trips away from the lair, but then again, no one asks a familiar. He follows her everywhere, but rarely acknowledges her presence aside from bringing her deceased gifts. It is assumed that even Moonpool does not know. But every time she returns, Zania seems to have gained more and more information. She may be away from home most of the time, but she is one of the most loyal friends you could ever have...
Moonpool is rather a curiosity at times.
A fair balance considering he has to keep up with Zania.
Moonpool caught Zania's attention from the start. He was a very accomplished traveler from the Southern Icefield, a well known adventurer as a matter of fact. He would fly all over the regions constantly, never staying for more than a day. He was often employed or asked by other dragons to go on small quests for them. Mostly he'd have to obtain treasure or specific objects, but occasionally he'd apprehend an escapee or stop a crime, depending on the offer and his mood. After fulfilling one of these favors, Moonpool would leave a golden bracelet behind as a token of his appreciation. He was called the Golden Flash, one minute he'd be there, the next, gone. Just like the shimmer his bracelets would show in the sunlight, one moment they glinted like the evening sun, then they were just as ordinary as any old piece of jewelry.
On Zania's earliest travels, she heard tell of this elusive dragon. His antics intrigued her and she began to seek him out. Moonpool was told this by a passing merchant and consulted his resources on her whereabouts. Moonpool eventually discovered Zania's most recent campsite and entered her tent, expecting to surprise her. But Zania was sitting up waiting, mentioning that hiring the merchant must have been worth it. Moonpool immediately began to admire her, and months later, they established a lair and a clan.
To make up for Zania's constant absence, Moonpool always finds time for his sons and daughters. Even though his duties as leader often call, he sets aside special days where he can relax and just hang out with each of them.
Ama, his Amaranth, is not the friendliest to the other familiars and bosses them around constantly, but she is the sweetest thing ever when around Moonpool. He appreciates her affection greatly and makes a habit of feeding her tasty tidbits whenever she lands on his shoulder.
He may have a comfortable life now, but the Golden Flash knew secrets that many would be too afraid to tell...
