Though Adesh is actually thoroughly impressed with Reva's follower's cunning in defeating his old companion (for as [i]unimpressed[/i] as he is with Reva).
While the leadership may be at odds with each other, there are still quite a number of dragons that share bonds across the two clans, familial or otherwise. They will likely truly never be genuine enemies.[/columns]

This only lasted a short while, though, before the infighting began.
Eventually, what had been five was reduced to only two - the other's names and faces having since been lost and forgotten. The mated pair of [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/60967419]Marelwyn[/url] and [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/81019132]Reva[/url]. A bloodthirsty warmonger and an archivist led oh-so-far astray. The Scarred Wasteland having changed them and taken from them in more ways than any dragon, or each other, could ever dream of...
They needed to move on, and so they did, trekking far from the plagued wastes to the cracked desert scrubland among the canyons and plains of Dragonhome. Long they wandered, until eventually a new home was almost laid at their feet. An ancient ruin of a town, laid out just for them. With some work, maybe it could eventually be a real home.[/columns]

[columns]As they settled, still more joined their ranks, what had once been little more than a small band of pillaging raiders turning into a proper community of [i]near[/i]-civilized folk. Craftsdragons, healers, and even a number of beastfolk joined them among the ruins, building up where they could into a bustling little hub among the dust.
There was a darkness at the heart of their home, a creeping shadow in the depths of the canyons and caverns. Those who had lived here before having delved too far beneath, piercing the heart of what the Pillar had kept imprisoned so long... As it crept forth, it dug its tendrils into their leader, twisting him into a vessel of only evil. Shade given form in the husk of what had been Marelwyn.
Through a series of horrible events (chronicled [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/qnc/3309867]here[/url]), the evil was eventually defeated and contained to a small gemstone, which Reva - the last remaining of the original five - keeps under lock and key at all times... and their little village in the dust was abandoned once again, as it should have stayed. There were few who remained in the small town of Dawngrave from when Reva had lived there in his youth, but they gladly welcomed him back, all too eager to have a leader to follow once again. Though Reva was still not entirely used to that role, he had no lack of assistance. They were learning and growing once again, this time in relative safety and comfort and far from the worries of the world.

Long they wandered, until eventually a new home was almost laid at their feet. An ancient ruin of a town, laid out just for them. With some work, maybe it could eventually be a real home.
As they settled, still more joined their ranks, what had once been little more than a small band of pillaging raiders turning into a proper community of near-civilized folk. Craftsdragons, healers, and even a number of beastfolk joined them among the ruins, building up where they could into a bustling little hub among the dust.
There was a darkness at the heart of their home, a creeping shadow in the depths of the canyons and caverns. Those who had lived here before having delved too far beneath, piercing the heart of what the Pillar had kept imprisoned so long... As it crept forth, it dug its tendrils into their leader, twisting him into a vessel of only evil. Shade given form in the husk of what had been Marelwyn.
Through a series of horrible events (chronicled here), the evil was eventually defeated and contained to a small gemstone, which Reva - the last remaining of the original five - keeps under lock and key at all times... and their little village in the dust was abandoned once again, as it should have stayed. They picked up what remained and moved once again, to Reva's childhood home in the Sunbeam Ruins.
Though Marelwyn and the Shade within had been defeated, and many thought all that was left of him had been scrubbed clean, Reva knew better. He knew what that monster had done to him. Soon after their arrival at Dawngrave he bore two sons of Marelwyn's blood - Callis and Rhain - their eyes dark as night and bearing markings that were unmistakably his. Still, Reva hoped that was all they had inherited from him, or that at least whatever darkness they held could be kept in check.
There were few who remained in the small town of Dawngrave from when Reva had lived there in his youth, but they gladly welcomed him back, all too eager to have a leader to follow once again. Though Reva was still not entirely used to that role, he had no lack of assistance. They were learning and growing once again, this time in relative safety and comfort and far from the worries of the world.
No longer were they the Dead Hand, the name of a band of murderers and worse. Such a name had no place among their peace, such a simple little thing. Now they were little more than residents of Dawngrave.
