Igneous City Lore
It was a normal day, just like any other. And so, as always, Vulcan was hacking away at the lava pile. It’s a large roughly dome shaped pile of hardened lava that has completely covered the small volcano it came from. When it erupted it destroyed a few homes that were the beginnings of a new village. Luckily the eruption happened on a huge market day, so no one was home. As he hacks away he hums a small tune. He hears a crack and looks down, before immediately ducking out of the way. There was a dragon down there. It appeared to be reading. The dragon looked up at the sudden light and saw Vulcan. It ran away…. Into a city. Well, a small village, but impressive still. It looked like the flame callers domain, not even remotely nature. He turned to run, but was met by a skydancer with a spiral at their side. He tried to run, but was swallowed by a wave of lava.
When Vulcan awoke, he was in a solid block of lava that had been hollowed out. Some of the lava began to glow, and the dragons from before walked through. The only thing Vulcan felt was fear. These dragons were clearly regal, and powerful. They handed him a letter. “Take this to your queens.” The spiral said. And the lava behind him melted away, revealing the road home. He ran for his life.
The doors to Equinox palace slammed open. The castles were to far, Vulcan need to find a safe haven fast. Atraxus saw his panic and went to go get equinox while he took a breather. When equinox came in, he explained how he had seen a dragon INSIDE the lava, how he had been kidnapped, and lastly how he had to get this letter to the queens. Equinox sent a message to her daughters, and took the letter gently from his claws. Geyser came and took Vulcan to the palace spa to calm down. When Geode and Star arrived, equinox explained everything to her daughters and read out the letter.
‘Hello queens, my name is phea. And the spiral with me is my wife, myre. I’m sorry for scaring your dragon. We did not mean to live in your kingdom for this long, and we won’t be staying here permanently. Allow me to explain myself tonight. Meet me at the base of the lava, facing the road. Thank you for your understanding.’
That night they found themselves in-front of the pile. The lava in-front of them began to glow, before melting away. A spiral and a skydancer cam through. “Hello! And welcome!” The spiral greeted. They nodded their thanks. “My name is myre, and this is phea. We have quite the story to tell.”
Myre and phea explained how they had been tasked by the flame caller to find an old minor god of hers. They explained how it turned out a lightning strike force had been holding the god hostage, and how the force had driven them into the viridian labyrinth so they could not use their abilities without surrendering their location. They explained how they had found the volcano and what appeared to be an empty town. They had built the lava dome to protect the other dragons with them. They told of how they had tried their best to make the dome like home, so it was filled with smoke and contained little greenery. Then phea spoke. She didn’t spark much. “we’re not going to stay for to long. We’re just waiting on flamecallers message.”
The two offered to show them around, and they accepted. They were given masks for the smoke. Turns out Vulcan was wrong, the part that he had seen was just ‘the outside’. the ground had been layered like stairs to add more space, leading down to the volcano Itself. There were tons of dragons down there. They had underground tunnels with rivers of lava to add even more space in their little dome. It was all dirt rock and lava down there. There was a small space with no smoke, and heavy shadow magic making it seem like their was a lava roof like the rest, but now they could clearly see it was glass. That was their little farm. It was impressive what they had done in so little time.
Equinox, geode, Star, phea, and myre made a deal. Phea and myre would keep the volcano stable, and supply them with lava for forges, and in return they would be welcome at the GemRose market. This meant faster produced weapons and less danger for the GemRose, and for Igneous city it meant more food and materials like wood.
One day the flame caller will come to collect her gods, but until then they exist peacefully.
But their departure might come sooner then anticipated, as they just revived a letter from the strike force. Not only do they have the god, but they also have phyra. Phea and myre’s daughter.
Bios/ mage types:
Lava mage- can use lava like water bending, and can harden it. But cannot bring it to life, travel between volcanos, make volcanos dormant, or create large waves of it like the gods.
Molten mage- each on has a certain material (like metal) that they can control very similarly to a lava mage.
Flare mage- flare mages specialize in the light aspect of fire, often using the sun as a power source and working with glass.
Lit flame mage- lit flame mages don’t draw fire from magic, but from loving sources. They can light anything on fire, as long as it is alive. Once the object is on fire, the mage can control it like earthbending.
Fire mage- can summon fire out of thin air, and control it like fire bending. They often have the personality of a showman.
