Spell Book 101

Sornieth is full with magical elements and energy. That was what drew the Shade to Sornieth, and why the first Eight Deities had to work together to form a shield and protect the land.

The magic of Sornieth is found in the environment that is naturally replenished. The magic can be harnessed by the creatures living on Sornieth. Dragons have an inner reserve of magic that they can use in combat. Usually the power and effectiveness of the magic requires training to perfect. Training of magic starts at different ages for different breeds and different Clans, and spans for different periods of times. Different breeds of dragons have different reserves of magic in them. Powerful casters does not necessarily mean that they have more magic within them. It is possible that the environment around that dragon is charged with allying elemental energy.

Dragons from different areas of Sornieth use different magic spells that can further help them when battling in their own land. So, the contents of this book may further educate dragons of different elements of the different spells used in Sornieth.

The different spells may not work well with your own elemental magic. After all, it is hard to imagine a Fire dragon manipulating snow on the first try. It is best advise not to try unfamiliar spells of opposing elements.

History of Magic

From the start of existence, the cycle of time, magic has already existed on Sornieth. Unlike the other planets in the celestial body, Sornieth was teeming with great forces of energy that threaten to tear the planet apart. Rocks clash, and cracks appeared all over the planet.

Not many knows why magic has already existed. Not even the first Four Gods, others spectaculated. It may be because the space around the planet was magically charged with infinite energies, and the land absorbed it. Or maybe the shards that made up the planet were the most magical, most enchanted, and they combined together to form a more magical land.

Nevertheless the energy slowly began to evolve and form into four great beings. The beings would be the first lives to this calamitous planet. The Gods that took shape out of these beings, the Earthshaker, the Flamecaller, the Tidelord, and the Windsinger, used the elemental magic that they possessed to shape the crumbling birth shape into their idealitic landscape.

However, the Gods were soon bickering about their own dreams for the world, and they erupted into a magical combat that will give birth to chaos, and other beings of power. Earth and Air fought, and their energies churned to create a tempest and Lightning. Earth and Fire warred, plunging the world into darkness and giving birth to Ice.

The energies that battles affected the day and night, resulting in Light and Shadow. All the gods, up to date, were the result of unstable magic.

The Shade took notice of the magic-filled land and wanted to absorb the energies for itself. The Gods then fought with it using their own power and magic, until at last the darkness was torn to shreds.

Yet again, using magic, the Gods, together, formed a shield to protect Sornieth.

After that much was unknown of the Second Age, except for the birth of Arcanist and the civilizations that thrived in the absence of the Gods. These civilizations built a machine in accordance to "The Speaker's" words. However, the mmachine exploded. The massive amount of arcane magic from the explosion came together and the Arcanist was born.

And before that, before the Arcanist awoke from his birth and opened his eyes, magic had yet again created two drakes. Magic had coursed up the roots and stems of plant, and they entwined to form the Gladekeeper. The magic that exploded had created an apocalypse, and the contamination created the Plaguebringer.

And after that, the Gods went their way to create dragons, us, using magic.

It is apparent now that Sornieth and its creatures are based off magic. If magic were to be cut off from this world, what would happen? Years of spells used would be gone, and the world would have to adapt and change. Yet can one truly live without magic when the world has used it since the existence of space and time?

Arcane Spells

Generally magic casters are taught to sense and see the ley lines crossing Sornieth, paths where magic crossed. Dragons are advised to be trained in this skill before proceeding on, for most spells require one to draw the magical energy from the environment and use it, or channel it into something else. With this ability they can find out the best area to conduct their spells.

How to Summon a Weakening Runic Circle

Casters have to point to the dragon they want to weaken in this spell.

Circles, circles, come to my aid.
Ensnare the one as dangerous as a blade.
Channel the Arcane evident in the air.
Weaken, weaken, with the Arcanist’s flair.

How to Strengthen Another Dragon

Casters have to point to the dragon they want to strengthen. The louder the spell is read aloud, the more strength the dragon will possess and the more time the dragon will possess the strength. This is temporary, but some reports state that powerful magic casters can instill this strength in a dragon permanently.

*Change according to gender

May power and strength fuel the drake.
The one who seeks justice and followed with quakes.
May he* seek out the corrupted fakes.
May power and strength fuel the drake.

How to Block Another’s Magic

This often leave the caster very exhausted and tender their magic useless until an hour has passed. More powerful enchanters can break this spell, however, so it is still important to train one’s defence and power.

Form a shield around myself,
from the energy of another.
Form a shield around myself,
to protect me from danger.
