rituals & offerings

∞ rituals.

» The religion surrounding the gods of Ir views plants as very sacred objects, so they are the centerpiece of most rituals.

∞ offerings

» Visitors often come bearing clay pots. Clay seals, similar to wax on envelopes, are added to ensure the offerings were not broken into. Items often found within the pots depend on the deity. For example, offerings to Cai, goddess of war and wealth, typically will not include roses but may include olive branches. The clay pots can contain more than plants. Often, plants will be drenched in wine and/or water. Objects and drawings may be included, either standalone or with other items included plants or liquids. These, too, depend on the deity. Soleus can be given inked papyrus depicting a sunrise, but this would be an odd gift for Isorae.

» Not all offerings are given within pots, especially items much larger than the average pot. One example includes swords given to Cai.

the city

general information

∞ There is only one ancient lineage living in Dromburn. The only power they have is through donations to civilians and government officials. They're as generous and kind as they seem. A truly evil person coming from this family is unheard of (mostly because the family doesn't want the townspeople to know of any evil persons).

economy

∞ The city's main export is farmed goods, such as wheat, and items that can be made from the goods, such as bread. The large farming territory strongly contrasts the small, concentrated downtown. The temple and decorated downtown provide a small tourism income. However, the hegemonic city of Glesa reigns supreme in the region. Dromburn relies on exports to Glesa.

∞ Dromburn's main import is animal products, excluding those from animals who don't need much land (such as chickens). This is because the fertile ground is best used as farmland. The quality of the crops leaves rumors circling the city. Some believe the deities have blessed this area as thanks for the Temple, others believe witches once called this land home. However, unbeknownst to all except the most dedicated scholars, the land underneath is rich in wells and water-flooded caves. Though even the scholars are unsure of the water's possible magical properties.
