This is where I'm going to store the lore and history of the Illuden clan, my project clan. It is still WIP, so please don't post on this thread! If you have any questions or want to talk, feel free to pm me. The Illuden clan is an aesthetic lore clan full of dark green and blue nature dragons. They are a mysterious and secretive bunch that only comes out at night. The clan, led by clan-leader [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?p=lair&id=143170&tab=dragon&did=43553748]Eki[/url], lives in a bioluminescent underground forest after having fled from murderous beastclans. They are a nocturnal group that was created by the Gladekeeper herself to protect the Viridian Labyrinth from below, guarding the many caves and root tunnels under the territory. Just like many other clans of their subspecies, they left their old underground homes long ago to live on the surface with the rest of dragonkind. This clan had many years of peaceful living until tensions rose between them and the Beastclans. One day, one of their clanmembers – Atsu – was killed by a rogue Serthis not part of any clan. The dragons of [clan name] had no way of knowing this however, and so, many of its members hungered for revenge. Luckily, the clanleader at the time was a peaceful dragon, and she managed to diminish their murderous impulses by warning them of a potential all-out war. 18 years later though, when she had died and another dragon had to take her place, the new leader rekindled the clan’s hatred for the beastclans. Though there had been no more deaths, patrols had occasionally been attacked and stolen from by nearby Serthis clans and tensions had been rising since Atsu’s death. With the help of the vengeful brother of the victim, Tatsu, the new leader riled up his clan and planned for a brutal attack, using Atsu’s death as justification. As with most conflicts though, not every dragon in the clan agreed with the attack. A small group of dragons was unsure about it and cautious of starting an all-out war like their previous leader had warned. Nevertheless, the whole clan delivered a brutal attack on the two nearest Serthis clans, just three years after the new leader had been crowned. Though many dragons were injured in the fight, it had been a decisive victory, leaving the clan satisfied. Sadly, just as the disagreeing group had feared, it wasn’t long until the beastclans took revenge. The clan had left their guard down, believing that the beastclans they had attacked would know not to mess with dragons anymore. That was not the case. Just a few months later, their enemies took them by surprise when they attacked with four times the numbers they had had before. A couple of sympathetic beastclans of different species had heard of the tragedy and had come to the Serthis’ aid in defeating this terrible dragon clan. Many dragons were killed in the battle, only a small section of the former clan was able to escape. The majority of them were those who had been doubtful of the attack from the beginning; many of them hadn’t participated in the attack, and their caution and concern had made them keep their guard up in the time after their assault, preparing them better for escape than their clanmates. For a year, the small group of fugitive dragons ran from the beastclans chasing them. They tried hiding from the beastclans in the hope they could set up a new clanbase, but the beastclans never seemed to give up on them. Time and time again, they had to leave their new homes to save their lives. Luckily, they eventually found what they were searching for. One day, they hid underneath one of the Behemoth’s large roots to the North of the Viridian labyrinth to shake off a beastclan patrol they suspected was chasing them. They followed the empty space underneath the root until it got too cramped for them to fit, when suddenly, the large root moved. It revealed a narrow tunnel, kept from caving in by an offshoot of the Behemoth’s roots. The smaller of the dragons went in, discovering it ended in one of the largest and most beautiful caves they had ever seen. A beautiful pine forest filled the cavern, and as they explored the cave system more, they soon discovered ancient carvings in the stone: the Illuden grove, the forest was called. This spacious, abandoned cave with an entrance hidden away by the Behemoth itself was the perfect home for the runaway clan. Since finding it, the dragons have made it their home, finally living in a place where they can be safe from the beastclans. Now in this ideal environment, they are living their lives like their subspecies was designed to without even knowing it. They sleep during the day in their secret cave to stay hidden from beastclans, and go out at night to forage and hunt. Now finally settled, they named their new clan after their newfound home: the Illuden clan. It’s got many large caverns and tunnels, but its most interesting characteristic is its plantlife. The cave system’s main cavern boasts a large, beautiful deciduous forest. The forest that covers the entirety of this cavern, dubbed the Illuden Grove, supports it very own ecosystem and provides a lush haven to the critters within. Rain that trickles in from the surface has made for a calm stream flowing though the grove, spilling into a lake home to small fish. In the middle of the Illuden grove is a thick, natural stone pillar with a sizeable crack in its side. This crack leads to clan leader [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/43553748]Eki[/url]’s den, the perfect spot in the middle of his clan’s living space. Most clan members have made their homes in similar cracks in the walls of the main grotto, while others have settled in between the trees, and some have claimed smaller tunnels and grotto’s branching off of the largest cavern. The thicket doesn't stretch into these tunnels and smaller caverns, but there is one specific plantlike thing that grows in almost every little crevice. A special type of blue-green, glowing mushroom can be found throughout the entire cave system, providing light for the clan's members. As the cave’s only light source, they are very important. One member in particular, [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/51145825]Avni[/url], has taken it upon herself to care for these beautiful mushrooms. She monitors their population and moves them around if needed. She has made them grow in specific patterns so that they guide any dragon through the dark tunnels of the cave, lighting up the paths to several dens and other important areas, as well as serving as signposts that make sense to only its inhabitants. With fellow clan member [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/49553767]Ico[/url]’s help, they have even managed to harvest the mushrooms’ bio-luminescent spores to create blue-glowing lanterns that don’t need any sort of fuel; these lanterns are hung across the ceiling of the Illuden grove from thick ropes spanning from the stone pillar in the middle to its walls. The mushrooms seem to have magical properties, making it so that they can't be manipulated by the dragons' nature magic. In fact, the entire forest of the Illuden grove seems to be protected by the Gladekeeper's magic so that it can continue to thrive even without sunlight. Despite its size, the cave system only has two known entrances. The main entrance is a long, small tunnel hidden in a different cave opening. It's hidden behind the Behemoth’s roots, barely noticeable, and the tunnel itself has so many branches that the Illuden clan's cave is hard to find. The second entrance is a bigger one. It ends up in a little cove at sea, and has a small sunny beach surrounded by rock. The long tunnel that leads to it turns into a bustling river every monsoon season, the lake at the main cavern overflowing from the rain that feeds into it creating it as gravity makes the water find a way down. The beach leads to another cave opening with only one small cavern, only big enough for one dragon to live in. The guard [name] lives there and keeps an eye peeled in case any stranger notices the small beach.
