The archaeologists back at the festival had said that while they would have no trouble bringing Kelran and the others back from wherever they were sent, they had no way of knowing where the portals lead to in the first place. "That doesn't scare us," Treble had replied as she continued to twist and flail about excitedly. "I- I mean, we'll go anywhere in the name of science! And archeology!" "Calm down," Kelran said, waving a paw in her direction. "We just need to find the missing artifacts for the Light Flight, that's all. This shouldn't take long." As for the third of their group, Cerulean, he stayed silent for the moment. The giant Imperial rarely said much, though there was little doubt he was intent on keeping an eye on Treble and making sure she didn't accidentally destroy any ancient scrolls or tablets they might find on their trip. He would be keeping a watchful eye out for those- perhaps he could add a few more items to his collection once the expedition was over. In a flash, the three dragons stepped through the portal, and for a moment they tumbled across time and space. When they emerged, they found themselves in a barren, chilly wasteland. "Whoa, where are we?" Kelran said, looking around. There were a few hills in the distance, and a black mound slightly closer to them, but aside from that, there wasn't much of anything to see in the dim light. "Is this the Snowsquall Tundra, do you think?" "I doubt it," said Cerulean. "This looks a lot more like Dragonhome to me." "Who cares? We have artifacts to find! Follow me!" Treble yelled, before dashing off along a well-worn trail. The trio followed the path for a while, but didn't find much of anything interesting. At one point, they discovered another trail that crossed the one they were on- one which looked like it had been made by a giant three-wheeled contraption of some sort. But beyond that, they found little of interest aside from a large collection of rocks that Treble insisted on carrying back with them. "Well, that first portal was a dud," Kelran said, as the three returned to the portal for another trip. "Let's see if this next one takes us somewhere more interesting..."

Emile grumbled as he saw there was no immediate hurry at all in this expedition. The twins Brekke and Emile are the main scouts/adventurers of the Skies of Ember clan since their first adventure that was a tour of the Scarred Wastelands (RoR 2015). So it was naturally their thing to join in this kind of venture. Though this time the "We're not in a hurry sis, no need to rush." Emile said as he caught up to his twin. "But we might lose the metal looking thing (a car) that passed us!" "We're not going to lose them." "Oh?" "Look down." Emile pointed to the muddy ground where tire tracks - odd looking prints to them where visible. "Didn't think of that! Good job Emi!" Brekke teased as they followed the tracks. The two rounded a bend and stopped.For they saw from afar odd-looking beasts and the shiny thing that they encountered earlier. "Oooh, do you think we could take one of those home?" said Brekke. "Are you talking about the two-legged beast or the shiny metal big thing?"Emile asked. "Both of course!" replied her sister. "Well the first shiny thing has vanished but looks like another one's coming our way and it's.... different from the first one?Also the animals don't look threatening to me.." "Meaning??" "I guess we could..but I say let's proceed with caution first lest we scare them away." "Great! Let's go!" "Wait! I think you try the shiny looking thing.And I'll approach the beasts." "Ok whatever!Metal looking thing your mine!" As the twins approach their objects of interest, the humans at the sight of them screamed with fear and ran away. "Wait! We're not going to hurt you!" Emile shouted as he tried to catch one of them. The jeep on the other hand swerved off the cliff as Brekke stood its way. "Woah! Metal thing wait up!" she yelled as she tried to get hold of the thing as it tumbled down the cliff. Emile's and Brekke's shout translated to human ears:[b] "GRAAAAAAAAGH! RAAAAGH!"[/b] "Oh dear.It looks like we lost them both." said Brekke in a sad tone, looking over the edge of the slope. "Well I got something from the beasts..some sort of cloth that tear when I tried to get a hold of them...and I think the shiny metal thing is somewhere down there.We could still check it out" Emile said trying to cheer up his sister. "Nah I have enough for today.." said Brekke. "Eh?Am I hearing that right? My super enthusiastic hyped-up sister giving up on an adventure?" Emile said in a disbelieving tone. "Yes you heard that right! The metal thing was kind of scary anyway.."she finally admitted."We could always snip some branches from those trees in addition to your cloth souvenir." "Ok then. I've heard that in the Sunbeams Ruins there is a ghost city that changes its location every time someone steps in, and because of that they says it's impossible to find. We'll see! [b]Day 14[/b] Still no sight of the ghost city. I've asked some locals and they say last time it appeared north-east of the long mountain chain that surrounds the city where I am now. I should go and check! [b]Day 19[/b] After almost three weeks of search, I've finally found the ghost city! I'll draw a map of my journey, in case I want to come back here in the future. [center][img]http://i.imgur.com/IhDFSfD.png[/img][/center] Well, the city won't be here any more, but at least I'll have a good starting point. I just had a quick view from above, but it's getting dark, so I'll wait until tomorrow for the proper exploration. [b]Day 20[/b] I understand why they call it "ghost city"! There is an unsettling silence around here, and even if it's midday, the city is still very dark. The soil is muddy, and the only vegetation around here is this yellow-ish grass. All the trees and shrubs seem to have been dead for a long time. [center][img]http://i.imgur.com/Y6z0Veg.png[/img][/center] All the buildings are empty and in ruin. Their style is particular, and it reminds me a settlement of Longnecks I've visited long time ago. They are old, very old, so old it surprises me they are still standing, even if crumbling. [b]Day 24[/b] After four days of exploration, the huge clouds that are darkening the sky since my arrival are still here, and don't seem to have the intention to move. The only interesting place around here is a small temple at the centre of the city. Its construction style is strange, I've never seen anything like that. [center][img]http://i.imgur.com/0XbdvYl.png[/img][/center] Inside, the place is dusty and creepy. I swear I heard some kind of voice two days ago, but even if I searched the place I found nothing. The only interesting artefact is this strange ceremonial pot that I found on the altar: [center][img]http://i.imgur.com/er8OXPn.png[/img][/center] I have no idea what has been used for. It's sealed, and I had no way of opening it. Maybe it was some sacred tool used to hold some holy herbs, or maybe it's a urn and it holds someone's ashes. I'll take it with me and I'll show it to some good archaeologists, maybe they will know its meaning. This expedition ends here. I'm satisfied with the results! Can't wait until the next time!
