She moves silently through the Labyrinth, blending in with the trees and leaving no trace of her presence. She is able to catch even birds by surprise, taking them down before they have a chance to so much as spread their wings. This Nocturne answers to no one, but serves her clan all the same. Her prey do not suffer, for she gives them quick and painless deaths, as they give their lives so that she may fill her lair's hoard. While Crested is not the most talkative of dragons, when the company is pleasant, she can provide stimulating conversation that will leave you wondering where the hours have gone. The night she met her mate, Darkweaver, she was so fascinated by his inventions that she couldn't bring herself to return home. They talked and talked until the sun disappeared behind the trees, and what little they could see of the sky through the canopy had turned a rich orange. She wanted to ask him right then to return to her lair with her, but it was too soon. So, instead, she asked if he might return the next day; and he did. The days seemed to blur together as their meetings went on. She would meet him at the same spot, after finishing her hunt for the day, and used some of the food she had gathered to bribe him into telling her more tales of the mechanical world. One night, he brought a gift: a small mechanical bird that he had crafted especially for her, which sang the sweetest lullaby when it was wound. Her heart swelled at the gift, she could hardly contain her joy. By their next rendezvous, she had worked up the courage to voice her wishes, and invited him to join her clan. They've been together ever since.

"I heard he tried to kill the Arcanist," whispered a timid-looking hatchling fae. "What?!" shouted another. The others pounced on the hatchling mirror with hissed shushes and flicking eyes. She grumbled, and lowered her voice, glaring at the first. "That's preposterous." "Actually," mumbled another fae, leaning in so the others could hear, "I heard... he got those scars from an Emperor..." "I heard that, too," voiced the last and eldest of the group, nodding. The mirror scoffed. "Please. He wouldn't survive any of that." "You don't know that," the first fae muttered with a pout. Before anyone could respond, the fae let out a shriek and scrambled backward, eyes over the others' shoulders. Raincloud hovered over them. The stern look on her face was enough to make the whole clutch shut up. They glanced over at the mysterious imperial, but Raincloud cleared her throat, and they instantly snapped to attention. "Gossiping about Mordred, are you?" she asked, voice hard. It was a rhetorical question; the guilty looks and quiet whimper of the hatchlings were more than enough of an answer. "He deserves more respect from you all. Do you know what he's done for our clan? Do you understand what work he puts in to protect us all? Yes, I can see in your eyes that you do. So don't you forget it." "Yes, majesty," the group chorused, with varying degrees of sincerity. "Good. Don't let me catch you bad-mouthing an elder member of this clan again." With one last stern look, she turned away. If watching closely, one might have seen a brief smile from her, which complimented the twinkle in her eye when she muttered, "I'd like to see you brave the mire..." The mirror scoffed again, though she hadn't so much as blinked until their queen was out of sight and earshot. "He's not that tough." "Actually..." mumbled the eldest, voice low and tight as they stared at the dark imperial. "I think he is. I... The story I heard was - that Emperor was his family. It rose from their fused bodies during battle with the Beastclans, and he... he was left to defeat it. All on his own." The breath seemed to be gone from the hatchling's body. "I can't even imagine." "Oh, please!" the mirror shouted incredulously. The others, once again, pounced on her with a round of shushing. After several seconds of tussling, she broke free and shook her head. "No!" she proclaimed, "That makes no sense! His familiar is a Longneck Medium, you idiots! You know - a member of the Beastclans? Duh-" The hatchling's tirade was cut short by the pink eyes of an imperial covered in mysterious scars. She yelped, and ran outside. The others realized what had caused her flight one by one, and in turn, they followed. Fer flicked his tail in irritation, from his place atop the dragon's head. Mordred looked up at the cat, and sighed. ----- While a loyal member of the clan, Mordred isn't one for making friends. Instead, he lingers in the shadows, and he observes. The only company he really enjoys is that of his cat, Fer, whom he regularly wears like a hat. He doesn't talk much, either, and has revealed next to nothing about himself and his history to his clanmates. Only a select few of the higher ups even know how he came to be a member of this clan. Due to his silence combined with a rather imposing appearance alongside his loner tendencies, Mordred has certainly drawn more attention than he likes, as the mysterious mire trainer.
@RubyOfFire I've just finished! I tied it in to Darkweaver's lore, as requested. :)
You can send the treasure now, and as soon as I get it, I'll send you the completed lore!
If there's anything wrong with it, something you'd like me to change, I'll rework it for no extra charge.
