I've never entered one of these contests before so I am not certain whether or not what I have would be considered as shading. I have another version of this entry that could be considered more flat than this one, if this one is not acceptable for the contest.

I wish I could have actually finished this, but I could only spend a little bit of time on him, but I like what I was able to do since I am actually new to this whole graphic design kinda thing... ^^;
A green base with a tan underbelly for a natural true-to-life coloration for this Quetzalcoatl-based coloration. The feathers are given a bright coloration similar to a flame like the aforementioned deity is depicted with. Golden fangs, hooves and spikes due to gold being another common color in his depictions and as an item important to the older civilizations as a bartering tool.
