Dragons For Sale

While foraging in the woods, you happen upon a strange, gilded box shaped like a castle. The gold metal casing has long been corroded and exposed to the elements, giving it a rustic, earthy look that makes you not want to touch it for fear of cutting yourself on its rough edges or contracting something from what bacteria may lurk upon the surface. Yet, unable to help yourself, you do touch the odd box. It opens almost immediately, revealing statuesque figures of dragons and creatures the likes of which you have never seen outside of your dreams. One, made of gold, reaches to the heavens. Another, this one of sapphire, swallows itself. A diorite figure, hoisted upon a pedestal, weeps so deeply it strikes a chord within you. An emerald plant of ancient origin wilts. A fifth slot is empty of any statues, but the swirling, starry background draws you in... And a bronze hydra stares at you in the last spot, its drooling maw dripping with ichor. Before you can attempt to understand what you see, the box slams shut, closed by an odd Mirror wearing a mask. "You shouldn't look into the reliquary," they murmur, "without proper protection." They point to their mask, fashioned like the bird-like masks worn in times past. Their scales, like the box, look ancient and worn. When you do not scamper off, the Mirror lights up, and you can tell they must be sporting a wicked grin under their mask. "I am Mogrim, and this is my Wretched Reliquary.
