They're quicker than a two-way:
You send a private auction to a user fee-free, which sits for 7 days. Usually that person will buy it immediately, or its good to set up in case they need a few days to respond!
This way, the final "trade" is just them buying it rather than waiting on a response from the person that started it to make sure their side of the trade is okay. (:
