I LOVE IT! Gosh I am going to need this two of my dragons now because goodness I need firefly babies
I'm not really a fan of this one... we already have runes.
I would have liked a glowing underbelly instead

I think it is nice but not my thing. Might just need time to test dragons. :)

I have to say, as pretty as that is... I would've much rather gotten just glowy dots of some sort. Because Firefly clearly has separate, intelligent organisms, and it would look a lot better as an apparel piece or accent. I mean, how do genetics play into this?
I'd say that maybe the fireflies are a pattern, if it weren't for the fact that they actually break linearts (and seem to be flying around the dragon, judging by the sparky trails). So, rather, I imagine they could be a passive magical feature (though that goes against the title phrase, unless hatchlings have no control of them at first), or an inherited scent that attracts fireflies of a specific colour. Kind of farfetched, but that's why I said I would've preferred something that doesn't imply genetically inherited symbiosis. I suppose the staff just confirmed here that fireflies are found in every part of Sornieth's every region.
It does look cool though, most of the time. Probably going to be a yet another g1 savior tert. Although, it's also one that really doesn't seem to quite work on XXXs unless the other genes are heavy enough on accent colours... Nor do they go well with all busier primaries and secondaries, or always as dark fireflies on light backgrounds.
